Accuracy. The most recent post on this bullet was mostly about what a great killer it is. I've been shooting Hornady Superformance, 165 Gr. .308, SST off the shelf ammo for 7 years. Currently have a case of it I've acquired here and there. Hunt with it 12 months with 90° temp variance and who knows how many different lots. I also use a CDS system on a Leupold VX5HD on a Tikka CTR. With a lot of heavy use over the last month yielding a good buck, a dozen hogs and a coyote and hunting season abut 1/2 over, time to shoot a 3-5 shot group just to make sure all is still well. Besides that, my hunting partner had a rifle to shoot and we just had set up a new range on the lease. Here's a 3 shot group: ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-53199-373508-img_0862.jpg) I've put two shots in the same hole with this set up before, good shooting, but it doesn't surprise me when it does this. However.........first shot is the one closest to center at 100 yards. 2nd shot, we backed up to 200 yards, I set dial to 2, same hole as 100 yard shot. We went and checked target after 2nd shot. The impact was directly on top of 1st shot, you could only tell by the enlarged exit on the board and the two impacts on a tree directly behind the target board. My buddy threw out a challenge, see if you can do it again from 200. I missed the hole but got pretty close. Bipod and rear bag off a plastic folding table. This set up has been doing this for a long time, all temps, different lots, and every field condition you can think of. I've had a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction hunting with this ammo. We put a lot into hunting and the shot is the good, or bad ending to all the work and effort. It's the part I worry about the least thanks to this ammo, scope, dial and rifle. I do this verification once a year, usually four shots from 100 to 400 yards, dialing each one. Never fails to perform.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I’m starting to think you work for Hornady. Nice shooting.

I'll 3rd that reason. 300BLK 125gr SST. .55 inch geoup. Not as pretty as Ya'lls, but I'll take half moa groups all day long. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-31921-373598-20221202_120339.jpg)

I run Hornady SST projectiles in my M1 and they've always dropped game easily; and are accurate out to my 600 yard limit (targets) with that rifle. No complaints here.

I'll take half moa groups all day long. Yes sir, anyone else should as well. At .5 MOA, I'd feel comfortable taking hogs at 500yds. I never get that chance at night. Guess what I'm saying is your accuracy is beyond the capability of your cartridge. That's a good situation, at night.

The 300blk has a bit more drop than I'm comfortable with. Lol.

Under the right conditions I'd take a shot at 600 on a great buck. Those conditions are not likely.

What I like best about about the HORNADY SST ..... is the job it does when it gets to where it is going! I shoot it in .270 and .308....and when it hits the animal I'm hunting....it goes down and goes down hard....right where it once stood!

I heard SST tips melt so they aren’t good anymore. They do, but it is a delayed burn, so they melt inside the cavity of the animal.

So I have this: ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-53199-373895-img_2233.jpg) My first rifle I got in 1979. Trigger is original but adjusted down to 2 lbs. It sat 20 years until I wanted to put it back in my line up. Found a donor stock, opened up barrel channel, painted stock and have shot it few times. Still a great shooter.
