I assembled my first bolt gun recently and now have the itch to do another. It will be for hunting only. I used a zermatt origin action on this first one, but now looking to possibly try a different action for this next rifle. The origin has been great, just pondering something possibly a little nicer.
With that said, I'm looking at a impact nbk or lone peak fuzion with alpine cut. Anyone have experience with either of these 2 actions? What would I gain over the origin for a hunting rifle with a fuzion or nbk? It seems most reviews claim the lone peak is smoother, but impact more durable..?

Lots of excellent action makers these days, do those actions have exactly what you want?
Are you doing a barrel nut or a shoulder barrel?
Personally I have strayed away from the main stream suff a few times and its bit me a few times. I personally am partial to defiance mostly because the action is square and true straight out of the box.

I'll will be using a proof carbon fiber prefit with whichever action I pick. I was considering a defiance anti, until learning the news of defiance selling. I'm just not sure what the future will hold for defiance, incase I should need customer service down the road.

For a factory gun there is nothing better than the Winchester controlled round feed model 70. Cycle one and then cycle any other bolt action and you'll realize what a piece of crap the other ones are. I am of course talking about conventional and inexpensive Factory out of the box rifles.
If you're building a gun from a bare action you would be foolish not to stick with a model 700 pattern. As much as I like the Winchester Model 70s the irregular shape to the receiver makes them incredibly difficult to bed properly. The model 700 is round front to back and has an easily detachable trigger assembly so it is a breeze to bed properly. There's also an entire aftermarket geared just to provide performance parts for model 700s. All of my bolt gun builds if I'm starting from a bare receiver are Remington 700 pattern receivers.

I like a 3 lug action for the shorter bolt throw. Got accustomed to that with the 9 lug 788s early on in my rifle shooting and still like the actions.
I would consider a Curtis action if looking to build a new one now

I've got three American Rifle Co. action's - Nucleus , Nucleus 2.0, and an Archimedes. along with a Shilen DGR action. All of them fit my needs, but I do like having the controlled round feed of the ARC actions more than the push feed action's.

Tried and true old school. The 98 Mauser is still my favorite. Still the best ever made. The only pain is having to re-heat treat them after working on them. My first bolt gun builds were all on Mauser actions. I remember riding my bike to Doc's as a teenager to drop off a Mauser for him to re-barrel.

Best answer. The feel and distinct sound of a controlled feed action as the bolt latches onto the rim of a cartridge is almost a work of art. I also agree with your comments concerning the Model 700 action.

I'm only interested in the impact nbk or lone peak fuzion as stated in op. I assume nobody has experience with either, but thanks for all help.
