What rings are you guys using on the Tikka’s? They have some sort of proprietary rail that I haven’t seen rings that fit, there is a hole on the top of the receiver where some type of ring is supposed to be pinned in place in addition to the screws but I haven’t seen those rings either.

I ordered some Talley rings and they went on ok and have decent reviews but they sure don’t seem as stout as what I am accustomed to on other rifles.

I know these rifles are very popular so what are you using for rings?

Sportsmatch T084 are very popular if you can find them in stock. t084 are the 30mm low, I forget the code for the 1”. Air guns of Arizona sells them and a few other sites.

Add a pic rail and live happily ever after. I’ve used these in the past

I have not used the base and ring combo on this site but maybe

Sportsmatch. Go straight to the rail.

Warne. The rings they make for Tikka T3x have a boss that fits into the hole in the receiver. If you want a rail, order from Mountain Tactical. This rail also has a boss that fits into the hole. That hole is there for a good reason, get a ring or rail that has a recoil lug (the boss) that utilizes it.

I'm currently using both set ups on T3's, rings directly to the receiver and a rail on another. I like going directly to the rail. Fewer pieces gives you less stack up of tolerancing on your assembly and gets your scope closer to the bore. The Mountain Tactical rail has advantages also, just pick what works best for your application.

Edit: The Warne rings with the recoil lug is a key, so my not be as rigid as the Sportsmatch. If Sportsmatch is one piece, integral to the ring I'd go with that one based on recommendations here. Here are my set ups to the receiver and to the rail: Both working out great. The rail is on 7mm Rem Mag and has turned to be a fantastic shooting rifle: [Linked Image]

EGW 20 MOA pic rail

Night Force Ultralite rings

It would take a heck of a wreck to break those.

Sportsmatch is the way unless you need more adjustment in your scope then a pic rail is a good option.

Not all do, but there are some picatinny rails with the recoil lug for Tikkas. You want that. Pick your flavor.

Seekins are about the lightest rings you can get. (These are also sold as Vortex, I think.) TPS if you don't care. Do this if you switch scopes around or shoot long.

Otherwise, Sportsmatch.

That would be the Mountain Tactical shown above.

The funny thing about using the Active Threads feed is you see posts from people you have on ignore. Otherwise you don't see them. I'm not going to bother explaining why that's funny.

I use Talleys

And there may be others much better

All I can say about Talleys are I was T-boned last year and the rifle took a direct hit, dam near killed me

Spun a 3/4 ton around twice, took that rife which was muzzle down, flipped it muzzle up and across the truck

Once I recovered and shot it that sucker held true, same zero

Hey, they got my business...

Probably because it's only funny to you and the other girls on facebook.

Thanks for the replies. I couldn't find Sportsmatch in stock. While searching I came across mounts that Spuhr makes specifically for the Tikkas. I have several of their heavy duty ISMS mounts for PIC rails on my other rifles and really like them. I had no idea they made a hunting line for the Tikka. I ordered it.

$220 - works out cheaper than buying one of the rails listed and good rings like the Nightforce.

Its not just surface area in play but texture also. Two smooth surfaces rubbing against each other would be slicker than dog s**t.
