Went for a quick turkey hunt this morning , was a little late getting to the turkey ground blind . Some big toms showed up about 3 minutes after I got there . One shot with a 17 cal hit right at the base of the neck , no meat damage at all . Everything worked out good this time .

No , it tells a quick story . I was out hunting , hiked 2 miles for that hunt . I was already carrying a rifle , drink and binos . Did not need the extra weight of a camera . No phone . Sorry , I figured most people know what a turkey looks like .

Can't tell you the last time I walked two miles, but my imagination works great bet it was a fine Bird.

I think hiking while hunting [ to help keep in shape ] is much more fun than just walking around the local park . The 17 cal WSM worked as I had hoped it would . It hit hard right at the base of the neck and broke the neck . The luck part was the timing and hitting the moving bird right where I wanted to without ruining any meat . Some of you must hunt turkeys with a rifle and know how a moving bird can ruin the shot . To me there is nothing worse than ruining half of the breast .
