I love lever guns and the 356 is my all time favorite. This afternoon I took it for a spin and thought I was going to strike out but on the walk back to the ATV My luck changed. There was pretty much no light left at all but I heard some pigs fighting in the road in front of me. I slowly proceeded towards them and could make out a big black one about 35 yards in front of me. I shouldered the rifle but the vintage 2x7 Redfield scope couldn’t gather enough light. I pulled out my flashlight and held it beside the forearm of the gun and couldn’t believe the sucker didn’t take off. I fired off a round and never even saw him take off. Went and got the ATV and returned to see if I could find a blood trail. After about 15 minutes I located one little speck of blood and found him about 25 yards from where I shot him. Even with the bullet taking out both shoulders The fact he still managed to go anywhere is amazing. Not my biggest but one of my most memorable for sure.

Always makes it special to take game with one of the older guns and calibers. Good job.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Nice!!!
Only thing better than that is if it had iron sites only on it! lol
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

My old eyes aint what they used to be that is for sure. I cannot get on a target on the skeet range or shooting pistols nearly as quick as I used to. smdh My brother had his dad's octagon barrell 30-30 Win and it would be something else if his dad hadn't drilled and tapped it for a side mount scope when he first got it back in the late 40s early 50s.

Obviously that good looking old rifle has been well taken care of, the wood on it looks great, whats the history on it? Great job helping the piggy with a dirt nap

Obviously that good looking old rifle has been well taken care of, the wood on it looks great, whats the history on it? Great job helping the piggy with a dirt nap Not a ton of history but it started around 1997. I was hunting Anderson county at the time and was only 18 years old. I had been doing some looking at lever guns but didn’t want the “boring” old 30-30. I came to the conclusion I wanted the Winchester 94 Big Bore in 356 Winchester. The let down came when I went to my local gun shop to order one only to find out it had been discontinued and none were available. This was before you could find everything online and it took my probably 2 years before I was able to locate one. I looked the gun over and decided it was coming home with me. It has now been in my possession for over 20 years. It is actually a 100 year anniversary model made in 1994 with “1894-1994” stamped on the receiver. Over all it’s still in 99% condition despite seeing use from time to time. You would think these guns would be easy to come by in the internet age but you still rarely see more than 1 or 2 for sale at any given time even on the big auction sites. And you will need to take out a loan for some 250gr ammo and 200gr ain’t much cheaper. LOL
