Both places are pretty much the same. Nothing much to do in either place except for eat and Shop. 10 or so miles north of Schertz is New Braunfels. You can have much more of an experience there.

Grew up in that area. Like others have said little difference in the two. New braunfels would be your closest area to do stuff and depending where your staying is a very short run. IH 35 sucks you are warned.

There are ways around depending on where you need to go.

All I know is the class is in one of those two cities.
I need to know the cleanest reasonable hotel with no bed bugs and the best places to eat.
Is it a 20 minute drive or hour drive with 35 traffic?

I live in NB and work in Schertz. 15 minutes if I leave before 6:30AM. Anytime after that it’s 15 minutes to an hour.
35 is a circus and there is no back way that either isn’t getting neighborhoods built or everyone already knows about.
If you stay in Schertz, keep an eye on your stuff and lock your truck. Our two spare shop trucks get put in the warehouse everyday since they cut the catalytic converters off last year. (Not that it doesn’t happen everywhere)
Coming home isn’t too bad usually.

Retama Park in Selma right on 35 has simulcast horse racing on the daily. Not sure what their live racing schedule is but with the simulcast parlor....good place to kill some time and win some money on the ponies
