I am so sick of this whole thing. How in the he!! can this be a fair trial in the DFW area with all the publicity over these years? A change of venue was a very common motion to be granted in cases like this, but over the last decade or so, it’s rarely done.

I point a gun at a cop, he tells me to drop it, I don’t, he shoot’s me, cops goes to jail.
How was the cop charged with ANY wrong doing? His own body cam was the reason he was charged He never identified himself as police, and his partner said they only saw the her face thru the window. He said put your hand up and show me your hands as he shot thru the window. The victim had a concealed carry licensed, If I saw intruders in my backyard I would have my gun ready.

They didn’t go to the front door which was open and the reason for the call, they didn’t announce they were police, and he shot through a window. It doesn’t matter if she had a concealed carry or not you don’t have to to protect yourself in your own house day or night. I would have my gun as well if thought I heard an intruder and have. I answer my door carrying when the doorbell rings and I’m not expecting anyone. I really thought they would have had a change of venue but it’s time to get this case to trial.

This will come down to several factors.
What was the type of call "don't believe what the media has reported BTW" and was the response appropriate to that type of call as the agency policy describes/requires? Was pointing a firearm at a target a person hasn't positively identified reasonable? Is identifying himself in an immediate deadly threat situation required?
This is going to be very interesting.

The defense tried to get a change of venue and it should have been granted. Get ready for the protests if he is acquitted. No people of color on the jury. Animal loving neighbors rang my doorbell at 6:00 a.m. because there was a cat on my roof. I grabbed my 32 auto out of the nightstand and chambered one before opening the door. I told them that I was armed and the cat got on the roof by himself he will down by himself.

Its already been establish by dept that it was a health & welfare check. victim had no criminal record. f'kn nosy neighbor should have minded their own business. link

Which is typical regardless of the actual content of the “story”….all about some agenda and facts be damed if twisting or omitting them advances the agenda….

I lived in Fort Worth at the time and I still live in the area. I a about as Pro-LEO as it gets, but it's hard to see how this could be construed to be an immediate danger to the officers. Office was outside, homeowner was inside. Remove head from window and danger is removed while you better assess the situation.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

The video is pretty clear, if you come in to my backyard in the middle of the night with a flashlight, I am checking you out and I will be armed. If you are a cop, better make yourself known.
She didn't ask for the cops to come, at the end of the day, they weren't invited and this was murder from an over zealous cop

Its a bad deal all around. Not like anyone would. I agree they have the hardest job, but not everyone would’ve done what that cop did. It’s tragic.

Per testimony entered into the record today, it was dispatched as a "signal 56" open structure and according to the FTPD training manual, those are treated as an alarm call. For those in LEO, we know those, like many calls, are like a box of chocolates. Also glad this one isn't in my court.

Prosecutor is claiming officer never saw the gun….. not sure how she knows that information, but she is hanging her case on that allegation…..did they only bring the murder charge or are lesser counts included? This was awhile ago and I haven’t kept up.
