We just bought a place at the very southern tip of lavaca county, and wondering if anybody has had luck with dove hunting down there? We haven’t seen much at all, but this is our first year owning it. Wondering what we can do to improve it as well, unless its just a lost cause.

All my family is from the northern half of Lavaca Co. I hunt the family farm up there SW of Schulenburg once or twice a year. It is always good, sometimes great. If you have a pond the afternoon hunt may be very good.

Depends on your acreage and landscape. If its sandy prairie land with some oak motts and a pond/tank you will always have a few doves. If you disc some strips/plots and get the goatweed to grow more dove will come. The best way I found to attract doves is to dig a duck pond and try to hunt teal in september. I am always covered in doves when trying to hunt teal.
