I’ve got a back up 870 work gun that I’m turning into a home defense firearm. Going to chop the barrel to just over 18”, add a mag extender, and would like to put some kind of optic on it. Curious what you guys have or would pick that you like and why.
I like the holosun optics on pistols, but wondering if those might be too small. Preferably looking for something I can get on target with quick, thinking something in the 8moa dot size or a donut would probably work better. I’d love to get your thoughts. Thx

Nothing is faster than pointing. If you can take a limit of dove with less than a box of shells you can hit an intruder in the face without even thinking about it.
No sights on shotguns.

Holosun 507 would be perfect for a shotgun.

What howl said. Peripheral vision is paramount in a home defense situation, an optic hinders that.
Do not trifle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Great “points” guys. I’ve put thousands of rounds through that gun, and besides when Turkey hunting, I’ve never aimed at anything. I don’t think about anything when I shoulder it… like you say, it’s just a feel thing. Reason I asked is I’ve seen some guys running them in 3-gun/2x4 matches and they seem very competent with them. And I know a box fed shotgun like this is more than a “home defense” shotgun, but you can kinda see what I’m talking about at the 7:56 min spot in this video: I was impressed with their performance on pistols, so I thought I would give it a go on a project like this and see what it’s like. I’m probably gonna do like Kyle suggested and swap the 507C I have on a pistol for a trial run to see if I like it. Might take a few weeks, but I’ll let y’all know what I think.

Why not a Streamlight TR2 G? It gives you a great deal of flexibility.
