Looking for some input or feedback. I’m going to buy a UTV side by side next year. Here’s the question. Do you buy used name brand like Polaris or for a little more money, so you buy a new Bass Pro UTV? My thought is the new Bass Pro would have a warranty.

Polaris and most manufacturers offer a 6 months warranty, Kawasaki offers a 3 year. Of course you can always waste money and buy an extended warranty.
That being said, yes I would buy a Polaris or Kawasaki, CanAm, Honda long before I ever spent the money on an unknown brand produced by an unknown manufacturer with proprietary parts and no aftermarket support

I only have experience with a new 2021 Polaris Ranger XP1000. Zero issues, tons of aftermarket parts, great factory and dealer support from 4 Wheels of Texas. I've done my own maintenance, Polaris allows this for warranty issues if you log it in your "Garage" on their site.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Personally, I would buy a new name brand. Used may be good but may have had the snot run out of them. Unless you know the seller be careful.

Bass Pro is Artic Cat; about the same quality as Polaris. Nicer riding but not top-tier reliability. Warranties are great, I guess, but they don't do much when you're miles up a trail hours from the nearest service center.
I would hold off and see how the market for the more reliable brands like Yamaha, Kawasaki and Honda improves over the next year.

Bass pro machines are the old Artic Cat line. They got bought by a bigger industrial machine type company a while back. I would not have any problem buying from them.

Kaswaski, Kubota, Honda, Yamaha gets my vote. Have owned all and have worked on most brands. Newer Artic Cat/Polaris is pretty good, older stuff problematic.
At least 4 or 5 good sources of OEM parts for Japanese stuff going back lotsa years so you can keep them running a long time.
Supposedly the ATV/UTV market is tanking due to "climate change panic mode" and the crazy shift to EVs but I haven't seen any real reduction in prices of gas/diesel machines.

Would buy a used name brand every time. New UTV prices are sky high. Off brands are cheapter, but don't trust those Chinese brands, many horror stories.
Paid $3,200 for my 2006 Ranger 750. Dropped another $800 getting it fixed up, optimized. Parts readily available and tons of support out there. Now have a reliable and very capable UTV for $4K.

Buy from who you can get the best price from on a name brand that is closest to where your live. Same advice that a tractor guy would give you.

Like tlk, I have a Kubota UTV, but without all the creature comforts. It has been super reliable for over 14 years. Hard to beat that. I have neighbors and friends that have Kawasaki, Polaris, and Can-Am, and based on what I hear from them, if I didn’t have the Kubota, I would without a doubt go with Kawasaki.
When I go up to Arkansas to visit, I ride in the Polaris (needed new engine) and Can-Am (transmission problems). No way I’d buy one. Kubota in first place, followed by Kawasaki, then maybe Honda. If I had more user info on the Honda side by side, I might put it above the Kawasaki. Honda makes good equipment.
Now, back to my Kubota. 14 years of service. 1100 hours. Right rear taillight is out. The right front needed a new headlight bulb a few years ago. I had injectors replaced due to algae in the diesel, but that was my fault not Kubota’s. Beat that with your Polaris…

About 8 years ago I bought another one and gave the old one to my son. It has over 3000 hours on it now. A couple of hoses, fan belt, batteries and 3 sets on tires. That is all that has been done to it. I have over 1000 hours on mine and have done nothing to it. They are built like tanks.

Bass pros are made by either Hisun or Massimo.... they're junk. Look up utvboard.com, customer support is horrible, hardly any repair info out there. Not many dedicated dealers, just box stores. Kawasaki. Ir polaris.

I bought a 2 year old Polaris Ranger Crew 900 XP from an individual. I had the seller meet me with the UTV at Grapevine Powersports, where I had a full inspection done prior to the sale. He even split the cost of one of the repairs with me.

Bass Pro Tracker products are made by Textron, the same company that owns Artic Cat. Here is a quote from an article titled “who makes tracker ATVs”
Bass Pro Shops’ customers witnessed one of the most powerful partnerships in the automotive industry in January 2019 when Johnny Morris – Chairman, Bass Pro Shops, announced their partnership with Textron Inc.
This remarkable partnership ushered in a powerful product into Bass Pro Shops – Tracker Off-road vehicles. ATV models came as rebranded machines from Arctic Cat, which was announced to be sold at Bass Pro Shops.

Kubotas are great at sea level, not to exciting/fun—but dependable. But, but, you will never see one above 10,000 foot. With exceptions(few) they don’t run up there. Even Kubota dealers will tell you the same. You also will not find them in the sand dunes. On the other end- that Polaris General with 100+ HP runs unreal and is smooth.

You are right, in that it’s a work machine and not a fun machine. The negatives (though not a negative for me) are that it’s real heavy, at 2000 pounds, and in standard form (mine at least) it has low ground clearance. Until I got mud tires, it wasn’t much good in mud, and I can imagine it wouldn’t be a beach machine. I did, however, run into a fellow that had a Kubota 900 that was raised and had aggressive mud tires. He said it was great in the mud if set up for it.
The 10,000 feet isn’t much of a deal killer for most, I expect. We live at 300 feet.
Yep, not a fun machine…

Kubotas are built to haul, not to travel diverse terrain comfortably. Suspension is built for gravel roads. Which there is nothing wrong with that. Every company chases a niche. They are extremely reliable and well built farm equipment

I have a gas mule, a diesel mule and a Kubota. All three are for work, not play. I bought the Kubota with a factory cab & A/C because I wanted it!! You can never get any up to top speed due to the terrain on the ranch. That's OK by me. As far as work goes, the Kubota is tops, hands down. The reason they don't work well at high altitude is because they are naturally aspirated engines. If they were turbocharged it would be a different story. If I remember correctly the break point is 5,280 feet for performance before a turbo is needed.
