How does that shotty handle and shoot? I've always wondered why there weren't more lever-action shotguns made. Why did pump actions become popular in shotguns, whereas lever actions became popular in rifles?

The action is smooth as butter….amazing for a firearm that is 135 years old. Ergonomically it functions like any other lever gun but the action has a very long stroke. A pump is much easier to shoot repeatedly.

John Browning was already working on a pump action shotgun when Winchester “requested” him to make a lever shotgun since they were a lever gun company. The success of the model 1897 is what ultimately doomed the lever gun.

That is so cool Snake Wrangler. Thanks for the interesting back story about the details of the load and shotgun.
Do you hunt other stuff with it?

I haven't yet. Wanted to dove hunt this year but that didn't happen. 2022 has been a tough year for us. Hoping 2023 is much better. Still planning on spring turkey, dove, and possibly ducks next year.

Green with envy. I've only fooled with the crummy Chinese copy some years ago. And kudos for using brass shells. deer2

Very Cool! Hunted Turkeys all over the states and Mexico. 12 gouge to 410. Browning Auto 5 20ga Is the oldest gun I’ve used. Pumps are some of the best Turkey Guns! Yours with those brass shells is very cool
