Saw a very similar apparatus on Wranglerstat (YouTube channel). Looked easy to use and he was getting his kitchen knives razor sharp.

I've got the WS with the belts. Works great. Yep, for me, the belt sander is the way to go. I can do every knife in the house quick, and sharp. I ordered different grits from McMaster Carr, better selection than WS site. What you've got pictured looks like it takes longer to do say, 15-25 knives.

I've got the WS with the belts. Works great. Add a leather strop/zinc to finish and you can really get it sharp. I am getting annoyed with some of the super steels thought like sv30 etc, that’s a lot of effort to get them sharp again

Gonna let you in on a little secret. You don’t need something to hold your knife at a perfect angle to get a perfect edge. You just have to be perfectly consistent and use very light pressure. I sharpen my pocket knife on the edge of my window and strop it on a folded piece of cardboard. Stupid smooth sharp edge.
I am not a huge fan of the stones. Even most of the “Diamond stones” I have used were not great. But I really like the hard steel diamond plates. The little G5 diamond plate marketed as the “Montec sharpener” is pretty good.
Any type of electric belt sander/grinder/polisher is super duper handy though. Especially for kitchen knives. I have a drawer full of dull kitchen knives and I have no desire to sit there and hone all of them by hand.

I have the WS sharpener with the sanding belts. It works well enough, but I have this one on my Christmas list. Seems like I can't get as fine an edge as I'd like with the belts. Might just be me, though. I've never been a great hand at sharpening.

I have the WS Ken Onion addition belt sharpener. Kitchen knives 20 degree angel, hunting/pocket knives 25 degrees. I can get a scary sharp edge on all knives. Don't buy the WS Belts there are better ones on Amazon which are better and cheaper.

Seems like I can't get as fine an edge as I'd like with the belts. What grits are you using? On a new knife, I do a couple passes with 220 to get it to the angle on the guide. Then 800 grit, then 1800, then 6000. They cut good as a razor blade. Like angus1956 said, get belts elsewhere and get it done right.

I've got the WS with the belts. Works great. Yup Bought that one for my boy a while back and it works fantastic even on the most difficult blades to sharpen. It really works good on a blade that needs to have it's edges honed back into true form as the angle settings are true and different belt grits work great
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I've been using (weekly basis) the WS sand belts (bought it at Bass Pro for $60) in the last 6 years for all knifes. Only had to change the set of belts once. Wife has been very happy with the kitchen knives. Lots of my friends bought a set themselves when they came over to my house.

I am getting annoyed with some of the super steels thought like sv30 etc, that’s a lot of effort to get them sharp again Not with a Wicked Edge. If it's far gone, start at 100 grit, then 200, 400, 600 Stop at 600. Need the micro serrations for cutting ability. I can go to 2000 ceramic, but the edge is too smoth. Unless you're performing surgery or sharpening a straight razor for your face. M390 is as hard as woodpecker lips.

I am getting annoyed with some of the super steels thought like sv30 etc, that’s a lot of effort to get them sharp again Super Steels as long as you don't let them get stupid dull are no problem. Touch up my S30V and M390 regularly by hand to keep them shaving/razor sharp and never takes more than a minute or two. Even stupid dull/wrecked/abused super steel just takes a little work. Re-profiled a Benchmade Bushcrafter in S30V that was massively chipped and generally fooked. Took 15 minutes by hand to re-profile and bring back to razor with the correct tools. Sure the WS is a great option - i just prefer the old school personal touch.

There have been a lot of blade tips trashed by a work sharp belt. I suggest practicing with some cheap knives before using it on a quality blade.

Looks like a knockoff of the old Gatco sharing system or Lansky system.

I've clamped it to my receiver hitch before. Just need some kind of table, and touch up hard steels. After we gut, skin and quarter two to four deer, I'll touch up my knives for the next day. Many a day at the fire station, guys have said "you got your knife sharpener with you?"
