Me and a buddy are having a back and forth on the ages of some of these deer. I thought it would be a fun game to play and see what yall thought about the deer.

I'm no expert, but, I think they are all young deer.

D is the only one that could possibly be 3 to me. Everything else 1.5 and 2.5.

Agree on the all babies thing. They all look small and young.

The only one that gives me pause is D, and it is probably posture and a night photo, but his neck seems to blend with his brisket and his rump is not rounded like a younger deers, it is more sloping like an older deer. But again, probably posture and night pic.

Up to you, your hunting goals, and your management goals. If you want to shoot a spike, shoot a spike.

Personally, not killing any Spikes on the ranch this year due to the drought. Now if it were a 2.5 yr old, he's gone, but very few are.

I'd pass on the spikes this year. Actually, I haven't killed a spike in many years. Give 'em a chance.

How hungry are you? How's your doe population? If you've got a bunch of does and you want meat, take a doe. If your doe population is low and you just want some meat, take a spike instead of a buck with some potential in the next few years. Those spikes may have potential to be nice bucks, but you won't see it for a number of years.

All young deer. The only way to tell what a buck will make is to let it get old.

I don't see any I'd call 1.5 in these pics and also none I'd call over 3.5 so as DQ said all 2.5-3.5 year olds by these pics

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
