When you use that cement, do you put it just on the neoprene to connect it, or do you also put it on top of the canvas/clothe on top of the neoprene? Does that make sense? If you have some pics would be great. Also looking smoky’s pic, looks there is a hole above the front shoulder that you would pinch up, cut, cement to close? You can take it out by cutting the seam a few inches front and back of the shoulder. Pulling it tight and marking what you want to remove. Cut it out an put back together. I leave a little room in the shoulders. I don’t know if there is anything to it but I think he moves better like that. I sew first and then seal the seams. Those that just glue can probably tell you what they do. Don’t over complicate it.

Warmth and protection. Your dog crashes the water and hits a stump, really hope he’s wearing a vest. Gdogg on this form, his dog got a big gash in the side, required rushing to the vet to get stitched up, would have been prevented with a vest. My dog has got gashed in the belly, and required stitches.. vest would not have helped because they do not cover the belly, they should. My dog wears one mainly for warmth, if it is above 35 I do not put it on, don’t want her to over heat. One reason I like 3mm vs 5mm. Long cold boat rides at dark 30 in the morning, I see my dog looking for warm places to hunker down, vest helps.

I don't get it --------- what does the vest do??? I"ve never seen a dog wear one, and I"ve probably hunted with dogs more than anyone else on this forum. Really, so you are like duck hunting dog expert? Well if I have to tell you what a vest is for that says enough about you. LOL

I don't get it --------- what does the vest do??? I"ve never seen a dog wear one, and I"ve probably hunted with dogs more than anyone else on this forum. Wasnt a believer in vests myself, none of the dogs I ever hunted over wore them. I put one on my first lab and she went through 3 of them throughout her lifetime because she even hated them so damn much. Tried it as a pup, she got it ripped to shreds rubbing against trees and brush piles until it came off. I was given another when she was roughly 4 years of age (the Gf, at the time, thought she got cold), she went out to retrieve a downed duck, was gone for a little longer than I thought she would be, came back with duck but no vest. Giggled as I told the gf she wouldnt wear it and she didnt believe me. Last one I got because when she got to her final stages in life, I could see she was physically cold, but still had the drive to go and was able to go on simpler hunts so I took her. Again, second hunt that sucker was gone forever. So now here we are with this pup and shes little, but shes lightening fast. This little booger is only a 50 lb lab, comes from great lines but was obviously the runt. Has all the makings and genetics to be an astounding hunter, and shes coming along nicely. But that little girl gets cold and gets cold quick. I got her a vest and she loves life. As soon as it comes out of the truck, I swear she gets more excited and helps me put it on her. She gets right down between my legs and lifts straight up into me, both legs come off the ground and I can swoop both front legs on her in no time. Doesn't flinch or move getting it zipped up on her and as soon as I lay the velcro down the back, shes gone to the boat or the blind. I am not sold on vests for dogs, but for my current one, I know shes a fan so I will keep putting it on her.

Ok. so I think now I'm leaning back to cheap neoprene tailored to fit… Seriously, I think I like the cheap 3mm vests I posted, $30 or so, tailor fit it, I think will be perfect. I might take to a seamstress.

Just bought an Avery 3mm. The 3mm ones I posted above did not have the size I need, could not find cabalas 3mm. But found a place selling Avery 3mm in the size I needed, more expensive but that is ok, $40, $53 with ship and tax.
