I say that just to annoy people. I’m glad to hear that it works.

At least half the population is stupid. I would just ignore it, and go about my day.

That’s the name of a movie from several years ago. It’s a chick flick so it’s typically said by females and funny males. Not the funny haha kind though.

I'm not getting riled up, just wondering why people might say "happy" over "merry"

Around here, I really enjoy hearing "Merry Christmas, and have a blessed day!" from everyone.

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

A couple years back, my daughters middle school choir teacher told the class they should write x-mass because Christmas can be offensive to some people. She was always pushing that kind of crap on the kids, so I called the principal. He and I both agreed that had nothing to do with choir class, and said he was on his way to go have a talk with her. Happy Holidays is actually just easier. It covers Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, all in one shot and you dont have to think about what the date is. From Nov - Dec its just same phrase over and over, easy.

I've always heard X was the Greek symbol for Christ.
The "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Christós (Greek: Χριστός), which became Christ in English.[1] The suffix -mas is from the Latin-derived Old English word for Mass.[2]

But I see your point and totally agree.

Actually Christ was probably born in Spring or Summer. At that time flocks of sheep were not out in the fields in December. His birth was set in December to compete with the Saturnalia which was a Roman holiday and keep the early Christians from those pagan festivities.

Yes, the holiday has pagan roots. Also, God instructed us to remember His death and resurrection, not His birth. Toss in the commercialization of it all, and it’s difficult for me to get excited about it. That’s no condemnation on anyone that celebrates it. I just am not one that gets along with it.

Most people think Luke 2:8-12 points to the fall of the year since shepherds were out in their fields.

Hard to make a bold statement and include the word “ probably “.

I always heard he was likely born in September, based on sheep herders schedules.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.
