Just picked this up yesterday. I’ve wanted an X-Frame Smith for a long time. Couldn’t justify the 500 or 460. Too much for my needs. I’ve always been intrigued by the 357 Maximum cartridge. I have plenty of 357 Magnum revolvers. Have no need to move up to .44 or larger. Would really like a nice .41 Mag though. Anyway, 350 Legend is about as close as I can get at the moment to 357 Maximum in a large frame revolver. I can see myself using this quite often. Ammo and selection is quite plentiful and isn’t crazy expensive like some of the new cartridges out now.

Wow! Take that bad boy to the range and please report back with pics.

Is that a custom barrel? I’ve never seen that offering.
I’ve always thought the 460 version was about the best all around large frame revolver due to the ability to plink with 45Colt, hunt with mild recoiling 454Casull, or step up to elk & moose sized game with the 460.

Will 357 Maximum brass work in it, Have you tried it? I bet it will. If so, no clips needed.
If I had known S&W was coming out with this I wouldn’t have sold 1k pieces of 357 Max brass about three years ago.
I used to have a 357 Max Thompson Contender.

Wow, very cool. I'm surprised to see this as the 350 Legend operates at rifle pressure level 55,000 PSI, which is 15,000 PSI higher than 357 Maximum pressure (40,000 PSI).

Pass the gravy.

I didn't know it but the 460 S&W runs at 65,000 PSI so I guess 55K PSI is no big deal.

Went and shot a few 145 grain Winchesters for it earlier. Just shot into the bank of my creek for giggles. Recoil not bad at all. When I have the other loads I ordered come in later in the week I’ll try and take it to the range and see how it groups with the different loads.

Little update. Haven’t had time to get it to the range. I did order a nice companion rifle for it though. Ordered the Ruger Gunsite Scout. Didn’t know they chambered one in 350 Legend. Looks to be a rare piece. Bet they haven’t sold too many of them. The price is a bit steep. Thought it would be cool to have another unique rifle and conversation piece. Further updates to follow.

I’ve always wanted a companion rifle to my 460XVR. But it cost $3,000+ and has a 1-2 year wait. 45 Raptor is the next best option in a bolt gun.

I’m in Paris too. I have some leftover 357 Max brass I’ll let you have if you want them.

350 Legend is popular in bolt actions in some of the Northern states that only allow straight wall cartridges. Down here most folks use it in AR-15s, I had one for a time and my son still uses his with very good success with Nightvision on hogs. I really like the cartridge, its a hammer out to 150 yds or so in a rifle. Recoil is very mild. I assume it will do well in a long barrel revolver also. It's .355 caliber same as 9mm so 9mm bullets can be loaded. We have good success on hogs with the WW 180 gr Power Point and Hornady 165 gr FTX.

350 Legend base diameter is 0.390, 357 max is 0.379. Not a good fit.

I really like the 350 Legend in a short carbine. Works great in my patch of woods. That revolver is very nice.

I would like to see a report on the rifle also. Been looking at that one for a while. I have two Legends already and am always ready to add a third. Fun round to hunt hogs with.

350 Legend base diameter is 0.390, 357 max is 0.379. Not a good fit. So the base of the Max brass will expand 0.011 of an inch when fired plus it will have a rim to work well in a revolver with no moon clips needed. That's the way I look at it.

Just watched Whitetail Diaries. He is shooting that same gun. It needs a red dot for serious hunting. He missed a nice 9pt with irons.
is it drilled and tapped for a rail?

The top strap is threaded. There are several options for optic mounts. That’s the route I will go. The irons are horrible.
