In general people are pretty dumb, none of that surprises me in the slightest.

JB weld to fix the exhaust leak was the winner for me When I was a lowly Private, I did seal up the cracked tranny housing on my 1986 Honda Prelude with JB Weld. Worked like a champ. No more leak... That pig, though!

I sealed a crack in a 871 Detroit block with JB weld. I saw the bus 8 years later and it was still holding.

Didn't work too well when I blew that Prelude up on the Autobahn a few months later though. That hole in the oil pan was a little too large. That 1.8L dual carb engine would still run, though. Heck, I drove it across the street from my kaserne in Germany to the American who ran a junkyard and car shop. He replaced the engine with a 1985 German-spec 1.8L. Awesome little cars. Don't get a vacuum leak, though.

Old job we had a collection of hilarious repair orders. You can just feel the frustration coming through from the poor guys working on the vehicles. "Customer states loud clunking noise when turning. Test drove. Removed bowling ball from rear floor. Retest...NPF (no problem found). "Customer states vehicle started making noise and stalling while driving 65mph on I-45. Found Mr. Squirrel wrapped up on serpentine belt. Have pictures if you want to see...." "Customer states pop sound from engine and smoke while driving on race track."

That is real stuff. Those not in the industry might be shocked at the crap we see.
Pass the gravy.
