The latest was a Model 700 BDL (high gloss Walnut) chambered in .243 that sold within hours earlier this week at a local gun store in College Station. I thought the selling price of $949 was fair. Also saw a 700 CDL (matte Walnut) listed online at a gun store in Lufkin but don't remember the price. It too didn't stay on the shelf very long.

Haven't heard a word if these post-bankruptcy models are as good those produced decades ago.

Are these actual Remingtons or did they get bought by another company?

Have you been living under a rock for the last year? Remington went bankrupt. Federal's parent company bought the ammunition portion, Ruger bought Marlin, and an investor group that calls themselves remarms bought the firearms manufacturing.

Yes I knew they went bankrupt.

I didn’t know If this was a restructuring of the original company or a new company who bought names and patents.

Some of us like living under rocks.

Uprisings started or quelled, tornadoes rerouted, elections rigged.

I saw the new 700 long range online the other day, looks like a very nice rifle, I wouldn’t mind having one in 6.5 PCR or 7mm Rem mag.

The first long range I have in 7 mag was a turd. Went back to Remington twice and never got the issue fixed.

Never cared for the Remington 700. I liked their shotguns.

I can't imagine these will live up to the reputation the old ones had. They haven't made decent guns in 20-ish years so I don't see how this is gonna change that.

If they would stop racing.to the bottom they might do well. Knowing how investment groups work I kinda doubt they will go that way.

IMO, there are two types of investment groups - The ones that want to build a company back to its old self and the ones just looking to make a fast buck before selling it off to someone else. As with many things, it's who's running the show that determines which direction the investment group is going to take. There's no better example of a company that was saved from the ropes by an investment group than when an investment group purchased Harley Davidson back from AMF, the company better known for making bowling alley equipment. Some might disagree but I feel the Olin Corporation has been good to the firearms industry overall. Most recently, Vista Outdoor completed its sale of Savage Arms and Stevens Arms during the summer of 2019 to a group of investors led by Savage's management team. As the case with Harley Davidson, this was seen as a move that put the company back in the hands of its US-based employees.
