Sorry, I'm Chinese and English is my third language.

I'm a wife, I don't butt in my husband hobbies, and when I meet him he already who he is and how he is, he already hunts, and loves to go to outdoor shooting range to shoot at moving targets. He owns 8 guns, all shotguns and riffles, so these stuff is nothing new to him. He also great at archery bow and arrow, ride horse, he run long distance alot.
He is 38 years old, so he been doing these for a long time, it not new.

As a wife I not sure I fully grasp it, how do I say this, that be basically hunt just to kill, as he not even care for the meat, he always donate the meat for hunger (Hunters for hungry programs), the meat processor locations will process the meat, and the meat go to food bank. Basically he just in it for the thrill of the kill.

I don't know if the men here understand him, I mean I'm sure he not the only one that hunt but then never eat the meat and always donate the meat right?

Thank you for help answer my question.

Many people have lost the fact that humans are animals.

We are animals that God gave the most powerful brain.

We were built, by God, to be Hunter/Gatherers. Through thousands of years, we have been very good at both. Your husband is just in touch with his primal need to hunt to provide for himself, his wife and children. No different than any man had the needs to breed every day. Same thing as any bovine bull or lion male. Reproduce the species, it is very primal.

If he is going to kill game animals, he has to process the meat, and preserve it, per state law and morals of the citizens. If he wants to give it to the needy, good for him. But do not waste it.

give him a cook book for Christmas. Maybe that will get him interested in eating wild game. I would highly recommend "The Hog Book" by Jessie Griffiths...

Pursuing game to the point that you are in a scenario that you can kill it is a challenge. When it is done well and all your work pays off it is very satisfying. To know your prey well enough to be in the right place at the right time and make an ethical shot at a long distance takes great effort. Men do many things to satisfy an internal desire to compete and succeed. For me hunting is a very satisfying pursuit. Hunting is also a rare opportunity that most of the general population doesn't have access to which makes it exclusive and special. I love knowing the game I pursue and everything that makes a great rifle and optic all work together to accomplish my goal.

To me, eating what I kill is no part of what I mention above. If eating what I kill was a "requirement" to hunt, I wouldn't kill coyotes, bobcats or most hogs. I've killed hundreds of varmints and countless hogs to satisfy my internal desire to hunt with no thought of negativity related to not eating them.

I have my deer processed and we enjoy eating it throughout the year. I have a deer at the processor at this time. I have donated deer to Hunters for the Hungry 3-4 times for various reasons.

What part of China are you from, and how long have you lived in the United States of America?

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

welcome

I love to duck hunt, but can’t stand to eat them. My wife loves it, so it’s a win win situation for us. You should try to cook some for yourself, maybe you will like it and it can turn into a win win situation for you also.

homemaker, my old neighbor used to be both a duck hunter and a construction company owner. He stopped eating ducks years before I met him, but he donated his plucked and processed kills to his employees. So your husband is definitely not alone.

I am a hog hunter. I don't eat the hogs anymore. Occasionally, I will donate a hog to someone who requests it.

I paraphrase Steve Rinnila "those who question and or challenge the pursuit and harvest of game are truly perverted from normalcy". For millions and millions of years we humans have been hunters and gatherers, Less than 150 years ago we would have perished had we not been able to catch and dispatch wild animals for our sustenance.

Anyone who is offended by this inherent genetic programing has been mutated by societal brainwashing.

As noted hunting is as natural as reproduction and the condemnation of that by society will end all conversation in less than 100 years.

A change I support is our awareness of the need to protect the animals we pursue so as not to decimate the populations and preserve them for our primal pursuit.

welcome He's helping other people and enjoying himself. If he gets some axis deer meat, I bet he brings it home. up Don't be a stranger on here and...ask him to take you hunting. I bet you like it and you just might wind up being a more avid hunter than he is. grin

I agree with the guys on what they are saying, plus hunting always made me a better husband especially after several days being gone hunting. I was happy to get back to my wife.

Basically, buying venison to pretend you hunt four-legged whitetails takes too much out of the two-legged hunting budget.
