I’m not going to go over there and raise hell with the service manager. The woman screwed up and ruined my day, but I don’t want her fired a month before Christmas. It’s just a headlight assembly, not an engine problem, so the truck runs fine, and I rarely drive at night anyway.

I was really po’d, but have calmed down. Regardless of what my mother said, The universe doesn’t revolve around me. As I remember, the USMC later explained reality to me quite clearly.

What are you whining about on the forum then. You accept sub-par performance and service. Got it.

I went to the local Toyota dealer the other day to buy a small part for my Tundra. When I went through the service area I noticed that there was a new crew of “Service Advisors” than the ones that I knew. My “ go to” guy is gone. I guess the place got sold or new management came in and changed things up. I’m not real enthusiastic.

Dude, I will not get her fired. People make mistakes, and I’ll give her this one, this once. But, I really was mad, but getting her fired wouldn’t do anything good. Next trip over there will not be a repeat failure.

Why in the hell would you need to pay someone install a headlight first off? That’s a 10 minute install for any warm blooded man and second maybe you should have punched her in the nose since you were shimmering mad rofl You need to stay home if you get that pissed off over a mistake at a dealership when everyone on the planet knows those people are idiot DB’s with the IQ of a potato and you shouldn’t trust them to do a damn thing right. I’d highly recommend you finding another shop or better yet doing the chit yourself before you have a stroke.

Did you have a conversation with the service manager to express your frustrations? These places are always asking for feedback. I had service done on my Tundra on Saturday and have received no less than two emails and one text asking for my feedback. If you did nothing but get yourself all huffy puffy then nothing will change and you'll be back complaining down the road.

If Toyota wanted advice, they would come on here.

I will talk with the service manager, next time I’m in there.

As for not installing the headlight assembly myself, I didn’t want to and I can easily afford to have it done.

I feel like I’m in the NFL. So many Monday morning quarterbacks. Ya shoulda done this…or that…but ya sure shouldn’t have done what you did.

If paying to get a head lamp replaced gets your man card called out, don't tell them how much you favor shrimp cocktails

I just bought a new headlight bulb for wife’s suburban. I think it was $275 for a bulb. Kind of a pain to install also

I wish my issue was just a bulb. But $275 for a bulb? Wow.

And Hudbone, we had shrimp for supper. Not the shrimp cocktail though.

Used to be. Depending on the vehicle nowadays it can be a bit complex.

Well said Okiedog. I’ve had one short glass of Irish Whiskey and had trouble reading what you wrote and can’t dream of saying it fast twice.

Last time I had mine rotated they moved one where it was supposed to go, one back where it was, the other two I didn't bother to check. In addition they ripped the chrome off one lug nut. Mechanic said just use a metric ** socket.my American 4 way wrench isn't metric. Only reason I was there was I lost a balance weight and had free rotation and balance. 79 years old and still change my own oil and rotate tires.

The quickest way to get exaggerations on a forum is mention a car dealership.

Most headlamp assemblies these days require complete disassembly of the vehicle front end.

That advisor would very likely not lose her job over this one incident as it is nearly impossible to find a human to fill positions in any industry but the car industry is pretty bad. A mistake like this is usually made by a person like that several times per day.

I have worked with a dozen women in my time (not counting front office types or receptionists or salespeople but service advisors specifically) and only one of them was worth a crap in the car service business. It's a job that requires tolerance as customers and technicians are abusive due to the nature of the position. You have to multi-task 100% of the day and never forget a detail. This is more of a male list of strong-points.

Pass the gravy.

Sometimes, I wouldn't want to deal with me. It's not often, but it is sometimes. I will try to do better.

Years ago I used to index plugs and bolts with white paint to make sure the dealer did the work.....caught them once on one of the fluid changes and made them put it back on the rack and prove to me they had done the rest of the work. That kind of pissed them off, lol.

In the last 4-5 years I had such a good experience at the Mercedes dealership I talked a cousin into trading her Lexus in and getting one. Turned out to be a 110% CF...she got the absolute Worst service not once, not twice but three times she was there. I went down there and gave my salesman and the service manager an earful stating I would Never refer anyone to them again.
