All good sized hogs The blurry one was too groady to tape but was easily the largest of all,

The bottom one was zapped with .416 Weatherby "reduced" loads, meaning a 300 grain TSX at 2800 fps. She took off at the shot and made it perhaps 80 yards in the twilight. Following the blood trail with a headlamp was effortless, as you might expect. This pretty much reflects my other experiences with body shooting hogs with larger calibers .... without a CNS hit, you get what you get, but there's a heck of a blood trail. The other four were shot with my Winchester 1885 in .270 WSM. The 2nd and 3rd from the bottom fell on the spot, but the one at the very top behaved almost exactly the same as the pig shot with the .416 ... blast off 80 yard then fall over. The big boar really was that big ... and that smelly. He went about 90 yards before he was too sick to continue. I walked up to him in the dark with a flashlight and finished him off with the WSM. I have an inexpensive Burris thermal scanner, and it was absolutely invaluable for quickly spotting the downed pigs in the twilight, especially the anchored but alive boar.
