Some of us "olds" remember when Marlon Brando refused his Academy Award for The Godfather and had a beautiful Native American girl give a sanctimonious speech.
There wasn't a single drop of Native American blood in her. She was a plain ol' Mexican American...and a fraud.

No mention of how many WHITE domesticated turkeys are slaughtered in the days leading up to the Imperial holiday we call Thanksgiving. That’s the real genocide that takes place and it happens every year!!! I’m outraged and you should be too!!!!!!!

Thursday morning I'm going to kill as many pigs as possible and then sit down to a nice turkey dinner. As a Native American I'm happy to say you white boys did good when it comes to making Thanksgiving a national holiday.

It all depends on which side of the table you're sitting at. Call it progress when taking from the natives who are trying to preserve a way of life, call it an invasion when somebody is trying to take it from the ones who took it from the ones before. It's all relative. People just aren't happy unless they are getting all they can and never satisfied with having what they need.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I don’t think about the pilgrims or Indians on Thanksgiving day. It’s about being thankful for what we have now. Kind of what they thought at the first one. We enjoy it and will continue, if others want to woke themselves out, then just more to go around.

I would go along with that line of thinking if history were filled with peaceful people. But that was rarely the case. Tribes warred with each other all the time….for some tribes it was a way of life. Every generation since Noah has taken land, , conquered, been oppressed, etc. it’s the history of man. All we can do is learn from past mistakes but to not celebrate a day of giving thanks for our blessings because of past oppression is missing the point.

I’ve got a friend who has a decent amount of Choctaw blood. I remember years ago him putting some kind of gay meme up about pilgrims stealing from Indians for first thanksgiving.
I replied that they have been repayed. He called me I sent him some links an the amount of money that goes into the coffers of the tribes. He was genuinely surprised, which is odd because he went up to Kansas and went to school at a school that is predominantly native because it was free or cheap.
My wife and kids are members of the Cherokee nation. My wife’s grandad is 1/2 Delaware Indian grew up in north east Oklahoma. Heck of a man. Doesn’t talk much. His dad was a leader of that community so much so he traveled to DC to represent them.
We all celebrate thanksgiving.

I would agree with you, but new history is written by the "victor" and the preceding history erased. Leaving the next generation to know only the "winning side" and ignoring the stories passed on by the less fortunate side. I wasn't there during the times of when my great great grandmother lived along the Guadalupe, but we were told stories about times being good until the Mexicans came and then came the people from the east and trapped them in the middle. Everyday should be "Thanksgiving" in regards to daily blessings but true history should not be fouled by agenda to make themselves feel better about the real events that took place. I went to foreign lands and did what I thought was right at the time too. Doesn't mean I'm proud of it today, but I'm thankful I made it back home mostly intact.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

We all celebrate thanksgiving. Most Indians celebrate Thanksgiving. Most Indians aren't offended by the word "Indian". The offended ones are usually rich white people living in the city.

I don’t think about the pilgrims or Indians on Thanksgiving day. It’s about being thankful for what we have now. Same. Honestly, I don't give the slightest care to what happened 500 years ago. I focus on being thankful for what God has given me and enjoy the time with family.
