How many are willing to spend $300 over MSRP for a pistol that has a MSRP of $699?

Wanted a SA-35, but $300 over was a deal killer for me.

I did that once. Ruger 77/357. They discontinued them right about the time that I was looking to purchase. Prices everywhere shot up. I panicked, thinking that the prices would only go up. Paid over MSRP. 6 months later, they started producing them again, and they were selling for less than MSRP. I do love the rifle, but in hindsight, I should have waited. Could have saved $200.

I paid $200 over MSRP (about $850) for a CZ 550 FS in 6.5x55mm right after they discontinued the 550s. I sold it for $1750 on gunbroker just last year, so someone paid double MSRP!

I never pay over MSRP, if I can’t find it for at or under I don’t need it that bad.

In a previous post I thought you said...

I wouldn't pay over MSRP for a gun that still being produced. Supply will eventually catch up with demand

If it’s priced that high I don’t need it.

I spoke to SA today. They are shipping more and more every week. Should see them in stores closer to MSRP over the course of the next few weeks.

Yes.

My 1951 Marlin 336RC was $69 MSRP. I paid more for it just before the prices went up sharply.

Same goes for my 1951 Marlin 39A peanut and almost all the rest of my stuff.

Guessing you meant new? I don't buy new guns.

Pass the gravy.

It’s only money and you can’t take it with you. If you can afford it, then buy it. A year from now you probably won’t remember what you paid for it and won’t care if you like the gun.

I’m guilty of seeing something that sparkles and spending too much for it. I’ll start to convince myself that I may not find another. Sometimes I’m my own worst enemy.

Buying new I see no reason to pay that much over. There are literally thousands of sellers on the internet in which to buy guns from so all it takes is research.

Rifle Gear sells them at MSRP. Sign up for their email notification when they are back in stock. Took me about 1-1/2 months to get the two that I bought. Did the same for the SA Prodigy. I would not waste time in spending waste less hours scouring the inter web looking to save a few bucks. $200-$300 is not that bad. Look at the folks that pay crazy money for the new Colt Python. YMMV

I agree, since you and I are working men still. Ain't nobody got time for that.

But, there's plenty of people that like the hunt, and want to brag about the deal they hunted down.

Once I had somebody complain about the price for something I was selling and told me that another store had it significantly cheaper. I asked them if the other store has them cheaper why are they trying to buy one from me. They replied that the other store was out of stock and I replied that when I'm out of stock everything is a dollar.

Be patient and the prices will get down to normal soon enough.

They are 900-1000 after shipping on GB. I wouldn't bet on them ever going down in price. The price of something is whatever someone is willing to pay.

Why wouldnt the price go down? Its a Springfield that will eventually become widely available. We’re not talking a unicorn or a foreign made gun that could be banned from import with the stroke of a pen. The SA-35 will come down just like the Colt Python has normalized. They are $699 at Riflegear when they are in-stock and Dude already said how to snag one.

Now foreign made AKs, those will likely never come down. That ship has sailed.

Could always buy a Glock.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Looks like Scheels may have them in stock at a couple stores for $699. Also seems guys on 1911addicts seeing them for sub $700
