Checking to see before I get to far into a project. Everything I’ve read on the internet says 22-250 will work in the 308 size AICS mags. Looking to move my Tikka Varmint 22-250 to a XLR Evolution chassis. Its a regular 22-250 not a 22-250ai. Will be using 50-55 grain bullets. Just checking to see if there will be any feeding issues.

No problem at all. I've fed thousands of rounds of .22-250 from an A.I. mag.

The beauty of A.I. mags is you can tune them if needed.

Thank you. That’s what I had read but wanted to be sure before I got to far along in the project. Seems to be a lot of extra length available with the 50-55 grain bullets.

The Tikka Varmint I have has a 14 twist probably do a barrel swap later on if I keep it.

I had 55's going 3780 fps out of a 24" barrel.

It was shot out in 1200 rounds.

I think when I get it burned out the way I need it I’ll switch to a 243 or 6CM.

Off topic but kinda on the same topic... can you tune them to be quieter? I have 2 300wsm AI mags for my 7wsm and they are crazy loud when loading a round.

Round 1, push the follower down with the cartridge, and slide it in.

Subsequent rounds, push the round(s) in the mag down with one hand, making slack, and slide the next round(s) on top with your other hand.

It being loud is the loader making it loud.

I can only imagine you are referring to loading round in the tube after you've reached your destination, like your deer stand? If I'm right, hand feed a round then insert mag. If I'm wrong, what the heck are you talking about?

That makes more sense, Gary.

This is what I'm talking about. When feeding a round into the barrel my mags are loud when the next round pops up to the lips of the mag. Not sure if there's a way around it with fat cases or not.

Load it at the house, safety on, and keep your finger off the trigger.
