If you like to do it, now's the time. Had to go into the ranch for a couple of minor chores and saw 4 bucks and 5 doe in 5 different locations. Deer are really moving, that was 11:30am.

not a big surprise as we have had a full moon. First movement I saw on Sunday was at 10am.

With temps in 40s all day, deer will be inclined to mull about all day. Great time to be hunting.

I hunt ALL DAY any time I hunt, unless there is something going on at camp. I can understand why some people dont, but it really cuts down your chances.
A lot of hunters go to great lengths to increase their odds of success with all kinds of equipment(too many to list and I do it too) and then they only hunt half of the allotted time. Being in the field is THE most important thing you can do to increase your odds, IMO.

I had to get back to the home front on Sunday so I only sat until 10. The most activity I saw was definitely in the last hour of the hunt. Had a doe in the shooting lane before shooting light and didn't see much until about 845am with flurry of activity every 15-20 min before I headed out.

The day before was going to check a different feeder after not seein much in one stand and came upon a big doe at 10am by the feeder! Bumped another heading checking another at 11AM.

Completely agree with free...if you can sit all day, it definitely seems like it'll pay off, especially right now it would seem.

I learned my lesson this year. I used to be one that hopped out of the tree by 11am. I've bumped too many cruising bucks on the way out of the woods....

Seems to me like the biggest ones are either out right at shooting light or cruising through at midday.

Buy yourself a wireless earbud to listen to the streamed radio or recorded podcasts and you'll be amazed at how quickly time passes while you're in a deer stand. Talk radio, football games, and even music can make time fly by with little or no impact on your ability to catch movement. I picked up a small, Bluetooth transmitter that plugs into the earphone jack of my pocket radio since cellular reception is weak in the area where I hunt. The three and half hours I spent in the stand yesterday afternoon seemed more like 30 minutes.

Sometimes I'll pull out my phone and start reading something, only because I know as soon as as I do, a buck is going to pop out of the brush and catch me with my pants down.

Leaving after work, arrive camp around midnight. Starting tomorrow I'll hunt sun up, late morning, mid day, early afternoon, late afternoon until sun down for 4 straight days. I think we're gonna hit the rut exactly right. More stoked about this hunt than I was opening week end.

Onlysmith, did you ever rig up that trolley system feeder for that draw?

I've personally tried the full day thing and simply "didn't have it in me"; too long of periods not seeing animals for me too get to jazz'd up about it. Not knocking those that do it; just wasn't my cup of tea per say. I will occasionally stay mornings a little later until 10:30/11:00 if movement is throughout morning and definitely hop up in a blind 2:00/2:30PM as opposed to 3:00/3:30. I go by the "to each their own" when it comes to hunting as long as it's all legal in nature. Good luck to all and happy hunting!

I have always hunted about 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon/evening. But you better believe if its the rut and its cold and drizzling/light rain.....I'll be in that blind all day!!!

I just can’t do all day. I usually have to feed the littles and wife some lunch. They get uneasy about 10 in morning. And I usually got to deuce so it works out

I have killed several nice bucks midday. There is a very distinct movement around noon in the places I hunt.

This is pretty much me. First cold front in December is always a good time to stick in the blind for me down in NE Lasalle County.

Free you are one dedicated guy with obvious freedom to make it out to the wild often and for long periods of time. Glad it works for you.

Not sure. Hot off the press and need time to go through videos. Look in live update thread and see last year pic and tell me what think.

Looked 4.5-5 last year so maybe 5.5-6 this year I'd think
