hey guys just won the hunt for sea rim park (hogs) and hunting is allowed till 10pm so my mini is definitely in play. I am not at all familiar with shotguns but I am about to learn. I am looking at these panzer arms AR12s and for $400 I may have to just pick one up for this hunt. (did I mention the hunt is shotgun only)I do have a semi auto 12 ga I have never shot and it is old school with no way to put accessories on it like lights etc.
But my main question is
Will the mini stand up to 12 ga abuse for a few rounds??? Wouldnt be a full time thing just for this hunt.
thanks

No sir, it likely will not. It's only rated for a .308, which has an upper end recoil of about 18 ft/lbs of energy. A 12ga with 3" rounds will have about 52+ft/lbs of energy. Even with 2.75" shells you're still in the 30+ ft/lb range.
The only night vision or thermal optics rated for that kind of recoil are going to be made by Pulsar (375 H&H/12ga rated) or N-Vision Optics (no recoil rating at all). Everyone else is going to be way too low for a 12ga. I'm not saying you'll 100% ruin it but I am saying you'll be WAY outside the rating they manufacturers will warranty for and it's extremely likely you'll have problems with the scope turning off under recoil.
I wish I had better news but that's the facts. Good luck!

Glad to help. I'd hate to see someone ruin a $500-$800 optic in a few shots. Jason

I wonder if a muzzle brake would settle it down enough for the optic to surviveā¦
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.
