Been watching this guy. Rubbed velvet off late last week. A friend took him this morning. No Nuts I presume. We might be neighbors? Brother shot one Saturday mourning, seen a couple others on camera. Seems to be common for this area?
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!

No Nuts I presume. We might be neighbors? Brother shot one Saturday mourning, seen a couple others on camera. Seems to be common for this area? I read that a lichen that grows on rocks in the area is the cause. It sterilizes the bucks if they eat it when young.

I thought the antlers of stags were always in velvet. It very’s. I bet it’s bases are soft in middle. Some will drop, they just drop real late. Just all depends on how much testosterone they produce that year etc. testosterone is what causes antlers to harden, when it resides after rut is what causes them to drop as new ones start to grow. We killed some that where tipped out but bases where soft. My guess is they would of eventually hardened and shed, just much later then normal
