I chased this old guy around during bow season on my place but never got close to him. I had tons of acorns and pecans hitting the ground and he stayed full off of them. He never hit a feeder and only came out at dusk. I've kept an eye on him for 3 years and he never really changed. He has always been a very symmetrical 8 with big brows. This year he went up a bit on size, so I figured it was time to go after him. The rut in Lampasas County is just getting moving and I found some of his scrapes and the creek he liked to run. I set up this weekend with a set of rattling antlers and did some subtle sparring noises just off the creek bed. the minute I threw out a grunt he popped out of the timber looking to see what the noise was all about, and I made it happen. I was shooting my Dad's 270 Winchester featherweight. thanks guys! I've really enjoyed watching him over the past few years. He has definitely spread his genetics around. I've been seeing a few young bucks with the same framing as him. He's going to look good on the wall!

Tailchaser, I did. I don't get too exact with my tape so it's definitely a +/- measurement but he hit just north of 134 from what I took at the cleaning table after a couple Miller Lattes.
