The one with the skinniest bases if you're interested in antlers. Pedicle size when young limits mass later.

You were so blatantly wrong, it did not merit a reply.

I’ve seen quite a few older spikes on my place. Some have had fairly impressive bodies, have bred, and their offspring are pretty obvious.

Spikes are not necessarily inferior bucks at maturity ... I let them go until 3-4 years old.

This spike is on our list, he’s 2. If he were to magically get some forks next year, we would no longer be able to cull him due to AR, so he goes now while he can and we are encouraging it through a pot.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Agreed. Remove him before AR's ensure he keeps contributing to the local gene pool for years to come.

Based on the last few pictures it's bull that you can't have a spike older than 2 years old

Don't think anyone would argue you can't have a spike over 1.5 old it’s just extremely rare, must writings state greater than 95% of spikes every year are 1.5 or younger. So, you definitely can have a spike that is an older deer it's just unusual. My father, who lives in western Louisiana, his largest bodied deer he ever killed was a spike, the spikes were about 6 inches long and covered with pearls, the deer weighed 187lbs live weight, definitely not a yearling.

As far as which one to shoot for the OP, if you're going to shoot one, flip a coin, there's no possible way to know what either will be at this age, nor is there any way to know if either will be anywhere near where you hunt when theire mature if they haven't dispersed already.

I’ve seen one spike in my life that was older than 1.5, and I’ve seen a lot of them killed. In my opinion the only good thing about the spike tag is to give kids an easier chance to harvest their first buck. I see no reason that it helps with managing deer to get bigger across the state in low fence areas.

Mouth-reduction and buck-doe ratio (although that's probably not a concern for most places).

I shot a spike about 10 years ago that was over 130lbs and had only 1" spikes. I havent seen a 130lbs 1.5 year old buck in texas before...but i guess it could happen

If you are asking which one to shoot as in using spike harvest for antler quality, shoot the one with the smallest spikes. He grew the least bone.
