I guess an existing pump Jack is being reworked. There is a large truck with a tower connected to it. Inside the tower are the long black rods. How long will they be working on this project ?
It happens to be 50 yards from a guys feeder and stand Thanks

Heck, I went to a deer lease we had near Victoria some years back, the day before opening day, and they were drilling for oil. Somewhat disappointing.

Depends on what they are doing. Might just be a pump replacement. If so, they’ll be gone in a couple days. Heck just go ask them.

Work over rig….could be there for days or weeks depending upon what they are doing. Asking is best. Look for the guy in the pickup with the cleanest clothes. Ask him

And they are working on the well (or something in the well,) not the pump jack. Probably a downhole pump issue and won’t take long, but you never know.

just shoot over them. morning evening shouldn't bother the deer. they don't give a chit if there is corn. what you have to worry about is how many deer the gas rig workers kill while you're not there

Well, they have the rods and tubing both out, so it could be one of many things. Pump repair, tubing may need to be replaced due to holes, they may have to squeeze a hole in the casing, they may even come up perforate and produce another zone, they may PTA it and have it all gone. They may like one more day or one more month, hard to say. With no more tubing and rods than I see there, it isn’t very deep and the trips will be fast.

They almost wiped them out in the early eighties in Burleson county, it was a rarity to see a deer for several years.

I went by Saturday after the am hunt and I guess they took the day off. I saw a truck with 2-3 guys leaving Friday but I didn’t know they were working a jack.

They are pulling the sucker rods out so they can test the tubing. Takes a day or two to set up, do the work, and break down. My dad owned a tubing testing company and I have spent many a days on location doing that.
