Well looking at the map it would seem the area below the fish hatcheries would be pretty hoggy. The snivel is I have to use lead free projectiles which I did order for my muzzleloader. Grandson hasn't decided what he wants to use but his smoothbore 20 gauge is his favorite hunting gun. I did find some buckshot loaded with tungson for 12 gauge but nothing for 20, no lead free slugs usable with a smoothbore either. I may have him shoot my crossbow.

Fun hunt. First year I haven't drawn that hunt. Good luck.

My neighbor also drew this hunt as well.

What unit should I hunt? Like to hunt from a small john boat to minimize the drag lengths.

I hunted the pig hunt at the Hagerman a bunch of times before it entered the TPWD System. There are pigs in all the units. Its a very fun hunt.

Interesting firearms regs. Non toxic no matter what the projectile, shotgun, archery or muzzleloader. Well I am going to set up a pump twelve gauge shooting the Brenneke "TKO" a 2/3 ounce tin slug that looks like a lengthened Brenneke. 2000 fps ought to work. Probably put a red dot on it. For the Grandson thinking letting him shoot my muzzleloader. Use the 250 grain Monoflex from Hornady. It will be scoped.

If Ray Zipper is still alive, the guy with the private gun range on Hwy 289 going up the peninsula from Pottsboro. If so he could probably help ya'll put together a legal shooter for Hagerman. Ray was still active but getting older fast when I moved down here 6 years ago. Ray had had a gunshop in Richardson across the street from the big Chevy house in the old tackle shop over looking the Corvette guy on Central Expwy for many many years

Oh and one other thing. The best fried catfish I have ever had is Hucks in Denison. No trip for us to the Haggerman is complete without at least one meal there.

Glad to see Huck's is still on the map! we started eating there way back when they were still on Hwy 289 and north of Pottsboro. Our tiny Lake House was about 20 minutes north of the new fire station.
The Elks Club bordered our streets north side, and across a deep draw....and YES we miss Texoma, even with all the goings on around us up on the lake.

Does anybody know if the Antique Car restaurant in Sherman is still open?? From the Albertson's grocery store in mid Sherman on the west side of the freeway, take the street directly in front of the front door of the grocery store and go west about 4-5 blocks and look on the left (south) side of the street for "MG's" parking lot ...killer food for sure...and bring plenty of pocket change for the 50's &60's era Rock & Roll Juke Box. Agree about Huck's. Good catfish and sides. Nice folks as well. MG's is still open but moved to a larger location right next door to the old one.

Odd rule, kind of hinders duck hunters. Big Mineral looks pretty good though.

Hunted hogs on Hagerman a few times. Big Mineral is always good. I usually go all the way down to the south end. I use a Remington 870 pump with 3", #2 steel shot. Kills any hog I can see up to 45 yards. I saw a "team" of guys with semi auto AK style shotguns and BIG magazines. They ran into a group of 20 or so and LIT THEM UP!

I hate pieces of steel hiding in the eating meat. May bring a shotgun loaded with #2 steel for backup and focus on the Encore 50 for spot and stalk.
