Mills County (Goldthwaite, TX) is having a chili lunch on November 5th, I think it kicks off at 11:00am.

Mullin, TX is having a dinner Saturday night (Nov 5th).

Anybody else know of similar events this weekend or even later?

Commanche put on a great event and raffle the Fri night before the opener many years ago, not sure if they still do as I moved on from that lease.

This has been a great event for a long time in Comanche. Spent lots of opening morning with Steve Clemons after he had cooked his famous chili. We leased his land near Priddy for hunting, and he would show up and fix breakfast for us now and then. Even gave me his famous chili recipe about 15 years ago.

The 34th Annual Steve Clemons Deer Hunter's Chili Supper is on November 4th from 5-8:30 pm on the Comanche County Courthouse Square. Come get some free chili supper on your way to the lease. There will be a raffle, door prizes, and vendors. Raffle tickets are 1 for $10 or 11 for $100.

Baird (Callahan County) always does a nice shindig. Free mexican food this year with a license. Raffles/give-aways are always nice. Free beer last year....not sure about this year.

I will be making the trip over to Comanche this evening. Think this will be my 4th or 5th time over. Good time and nice folks.

For those in the Heartland - tomorrow the Winchell VFD will have their 28th Annual Deer Hunters BBQ Fundraiser and Bake Sale. Lots of raffle items, really good food, and funds go straight to needs of VFD. I go every year and buy lots of raffle tickets, but haven't won big prize...yet! Hard to miss the location on 377 just north of the Colorado River bridge where Brown and McCulloch county line. Starts at 11 am and goes into late evening. Look me up - I will be the one in camo smile

Menard has the Hunter's Blowout on Saturday evening at Club Victoria in Menard. Raffling away lots of great toys including guns. Food included.
Hope to see you there!
Adios,
Gary

I always love these type events. I went to a couple for the pheasant hunters in Kansas once. Good time with all the raffles and the food.

A small community in Ms called Crossroads always held an annual event at the feed store every year. Lots of prizes and food. A very good community gathering that lots of families came out to enjoy. The door prizes and raffles were always exciting.

Poplarville, Ms used to have an end of season gathering that featured a wild game cooking contest, presentations by the wildlife department, and a big buck contest. Always a good time.

They used to have a good one out in Sterling, super food and big raffle and door prizes, I'd had never thought there where so many hunters out there if we didn't go to it a few years.

Kimble County (Junction) has one the Saturday after Thanksgiving. 'Hope to make it this year, maybe with the grandson.
