I buy 2 40lb sacks of Victor dog feed a month. Feed price went up quite a bit back in March, so I bought 3 months worth, hoping it would level out. It hasn’t, bought 2 sacks today, and it’s now only about $5 less than Purina Pro Plan for the same amount. When I started using Victor a few years ago it was 30% cheaper than Purina, and the dogs do good on it. I also bought Victor because it’s made in Texas. Dang bird dogs are eating steak, and I’m settling for bologna.

No reason Pro Plan should cost as much as it does. It’s a corn and chicken based dog food.
I have been feeding Loyall Chicken and Briwn Rice All Life Stages for about 1.5 years now and dogs look great, firm stool, shiny coats, great energy. $40 for 40 pounds and price has stayed the same.

My Eukanuba large breed senior went from ~$47-49 in early 2020 to ~$80 now. Nearly doubled.
Went through a period where I couldn't find it for months at a time - luckily keep about 3-4 bags on hand as a "just in case" and never ran out.

Blue Buffalo has went crazy this year with prices. We used to feed Taste of the Wild and we switched with the new dog because you can get Blue Buffalo everywhere and we could only get Taste of the Wild from TSC. I noticed when in TSC getting Blue Buffalo this past weekend that Taste of the Wild hasn't went up hardly at all. We have been talking about swapping to something else and Taste of the Wild came up again. Not sure where we'll end up but to your point...dog food prices have done like the grocery store stuff.

The Victor has gone from $38 to $58 at the feed store for 40lb sack. Purina Pro Plan is $60 for 37.5lbs. I went to Victor when the PPP hit $50 3 years ago.

I started feeding Inukshuk Marine about 3 months ago. Costs about $80 a bag, which sucks. However, I feed half as much. 2 cups instead of 4. it's a substantially better feed than what i was feeding before. Less allergy issues, less waste, etc.

I feed my lab pup pro plan sport. My cost through my vet distributor is $73 for 48 pounds. But at least I can write it off.

Feeding 1 or 2 dogs, it’s rough but do able. Feeding 4 dogs it’s a bummer, along with increased maintenance meds and vet bills. It’s getting hard to justify having bird dogs. I got into it 30 years ago with some guys that fed 30-40 pointers all year. If they were still alive, they would have cut way back on dogs. But they always had a lease with birds.

Our vet had this in the exam room. Of course, they push their own stuff, but this is the best vet we've had in many years. Our 10-year-old blue lacy is on Purina Rx. Dam expensive, but she's grown hair on her back where she's had very little her whole life.

Lol Those foods are fine, not saying they aren’t. However there are tons of other foods that meet their standards. Those are “safe” suggestions for Vets to recommend because they don’t have the time and nor should they be expected to know every single dog food out there and if it’s safe or not safe or what’s best.

I feed victor but recently I noticed chicken thighs were occasionally cheaper than victor — when that happens I buy a bunch pressure cook them (only a single bone to remove) and supplement the dry food.

Diamond Maintenence is the way to go. 1 cup a day for my old britts and two cups for the shorthair and young Britt. They’re in great shape.

I feed Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice It's about 45 bucks for 40 pounds at CHEWY. Has only went up a few dollars in the past couple of years.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Any vet who is pushing grain free or raw diets is a moron and I'd personally be hesitant to take any kind of medical advice from them. I would more so question who is funding those vets to push those diets as they run counter to decades of animal nutrition research.

Robby I’d say a good percentage of those dogs are getting a discount on food, hard to tell best there…not hard to tell who supports the games though. Also, nothing wrong with supporting the companies that support the games…just have to realize the bias in the data.
