Depends on the color of the stuff growing on it.

Generally, If we won't eat it in the next 2 days we freeze it in Tupperware!

My wife eats it the next day or throws it away. I’ll eat it until there is more mold than visible food. I’ll scrape the mold off bread.

A day or two for most things. I typically only make enough to feed the four of us and have lunch the next day. I also don't reheat leftovers unless it's soup or pasta. Soup I'll reheat on the stove. I'll microwave pasta and heat the sauce on the stove; anything else I just eat cold. I refuse to eat microwaved meat.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

According to this poll, I clearly won the argument, and we should not have thrown out that batch of 6 day old mashed taters. There was nothing growing on it. But for some reason, this hasn't settled it. I clearly won, and she won't accept it.

We generally cook big batches of food to reheat throughout the week. My wife's rule is one week. I'll go a bit longer if it looks and smells fine. Depends a lot on what it is.

General rule of thumb. If I’ve eaten worse at deer camp, it’s still good.

Also depends on how cold you keep your fridge. 34 degrees is basically frozen, stuff will keep a while. 41-42, 2-3 days on typical things.

It really depends on what it is or what’s in it. Most things, if they don’t smell funny, I eat em for about 10 days. The only times I’ve ever been sick from ingesting something was liquids. Used to happen to me Saturday and Sunday mornings.

5 days and then I clean out the fridge. I may go longer if I want to clean out my insides.

We try to use up leftovers within 5 days. A bit of mold may be acceptable on some foods. Cheese for example. We only throw out food that smells or tastes off.
But that has more to do with taste then safety. Most bacteria and mold can be neutralized by proper cooking before consumption.
I know of a few traditional dishes that used partially decomposed meats and of course most people know what sauerkraut is and how it is made.
Knowing that we don't have set times for when to throw leftovers out.
Do for yourself as much as you can, eat what nature provides as much as you can. This is the key to sleeping well and living long.

We usually clean out once per week due to food shopping trips, not for safety.
Pass the gravy.

I think it`s pretty clear that no one needs a poll to figure out that you can`t win an argument with a woman. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/11/full-8162-371665-thats_all_i_have_to_say_about_that.jpg)

Depends on what it is. We do have several garbage disposals that look like a yard fiest or laying hen.
