Got an invitation to come hunt at a very nice ranch.

The guy is super generous and doesn’t want for anything.

Would like to bring something that would be received well and also show my appreciation.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Is he a drinker? A nice bourbon or scotch would be good.

An bottle of well-known scotch or fine liquor or wine you can both enjoy over some warm and friendly conversation.

We must have been typing at the same time Cow-Doc.

He is, that’s a pretty good idea.

A fine bottle should suffice, even if he isn’t a drinker, he would see the the value in it.

Yup
a really good bottle of scotch would probably be appreciated.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

That's what I did in a similar situation. I shipped him a nice bottle of tequila, which I learned is his preference.

I've always made something in the shop. Something unique.

I've only been in the situation you describe once, and felt the same. I wanted to get something they would appreciate. Booze to me is too temporary, and I can drink up expensive stuff just as fast as the cheap. I ended up with a nice personalized engraved decanter and glasses, with his name on it. Told him I didn't know his favorite libation, but would like him to remember me when he enjoyed it!! Went over pretty well, and we became life-long friends.

If he's a hunter, have a custom knife made for him up
One that he'll remember who gave it to him each time he uses it.

I know a lot of people who can buy pretty much anything they want without thinking about it. They aren't like mansion and helicopter rich but they would buy something for 50k without even checking their account balance or the impact of buying it. These people are often very busy making all that money and don't have much free time. They really like custom type stuff. A custom made knife with their initials or maybe a custom rifle sling, maybe a Yeti cooler with his ranch brand on it. Basically something they cant walk into a store and pickup this afternoon.

If you do go a bottle of booze call his office and talk to someone who knows what he likes. I am sure he will be thankful no matter what you get him. I

Gets my vote. Couple hundred bucks on a custom knife that he can use for many years to come.

For folks like that, I gow with consumables, preferably something he can't buy locally. A limited bottling of his favorite scotch, A-5 wagyu steaks, cuban cigars, etc. I figure they have all the "stuff" they want.

I wouldn’t buy booze for a guy I don’t know. He might be a recovering alcoholic.

I have a friend with 100K acres and runs 10,000 head of cattle. The first year I met him, he gave me permission to hunt, and I gave him 50# box of fresh dug potatoes. Cost about $20 at the time. Been doing that since the 1990's, he loves them and it's the best money I never even knew I spent!!!!!

If his ranch has a logo, support another THF member and have him a sign made to hang in house/cabin/man cave.
