Have you ever thought you were speaking to someone you know and after you have stuck your foot in your mouth it turns out it is not them? Back story: We use to go to a friend of ours place south of Bowie and play foosball on Friday nights in his upper level of his barn, then twice a year there would be a big get together. Well to my best recollection it was one Friday night while we are upstairs in the barn playing foosball at the big get together one of the guys had to take a dump bad and did not want to go into the house with all of the people in there, so he grabs the almost empty big plastic container of Planters Peanut jar and goes behind a Cedar Bush and dumps in it. So we have razzed him about it. Well last night I tried calling a friend of mine that I had not spoken to in a long time but his number was disconnected, so I call another friend that I have not spoken to in forever who is a good friend of his also to get his new number and he answers hello. I reply sir there is a warrant out for your arrest for destruction of a Planters Peanut container by means of Chitting in it, turn yourself in now! Other person "What" Are you serious and hangs up. When I realize it is not who I think it is, I call back to apologize, no answer, I text them that their phone number use to belong to a friend of mine that I was pranking and apologized, no reply. Guess they have me blocked and will live forever wondering WTF was that about

That is a good one lol.
I have been on the other end of that, a few times I have had different people ask me about the time I did this or that on a job in the past. Clearly they have me mixed up with somebody else, and when they finally realize it they ask if it was my brother, I don’t have one of those either. Apparently I have a look alike running around in the West Tx oilfield.

I have a buddy that will bring up the past in humor sometimes, he will be sharing the story with others about me and rolling over his story. Problem is I don't recall it and it could be true! That is possible effect of shoving head into asphalt at 65-70 mph. I tell everyone he may not be lying just I don't remember due to lawn darting myself and he looks kinda sheepish afterwards. And I have done same type thing myself, man do I feel dumb.

People refer to me in stories I was not a part of. Some of the these "relayed" events are to my benefit.

May be a case of “if you remember it, you weren’t there”. In my case, there are things I was too drunk to remember and things I try really hard to not remember.

25 or so years ago before cell phones were popular my land line phone rang at 5 am. I was half asleep when I answered and the person on the other end called me by my first name and said "I'll leave the gate key under the rock at the second fence post." I said OK and they hung up. As I slowly woke up I realized that I had no idea who had just called or why they would say that. Then it dawned on me that they had probably got a wrong number and I just happened to have the right first name of the person they were trying to call. I bet there was a good argument about that key when those people finally got together.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

I finally got the original friends number I was looking for which is the owner of the property where we played Foosball. Called him around lunch today told him the crazy episode of my phone calls last night and I will be damned if I forgot the reason I called him for in the first place We had a great visit and he told me to call him back when I figured it out. It's hell getting old and forgetful, what am I lying about I use to forget chit like that all of the time. Which brings me to the next question: Don't you just hate it when you forget what the heck you were going to do no matter how important? And no I was not drinking last night or today

Had a sales guy call and ask if I was Robert Johnson ( or what ever name he was looking for) and if I was interested in selling my timeshare. Yes… yes I am interested in selling…. Then I said tell me more about how this works. It was Fish On…. Dis gonna be good….. We talked for a bit while he explained the process. This guy was not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He would give me the info I needed to answer every question he asked. After agreeing to meet with him, he asked if my address was still at 721 Post Oak and was asking for closest cross street. I sad something like Maple and Pine….. All good, he was to stop by that address in two weeks…. I had a great laugh about that one until I was out of town two weeks later. I had forgotten all about that call until my wife called and was PISSED. Guess who called our home phone when he showed up to someone’s house asking for someone that I guess no longer lived there?? My wife was as confused as he was and it’s a good thing I was on a business trip. She didn’t see the humor in it that I did…
Funny thing about getting older: Your eyesight starts getting weaker but your ability to see through people's BS gets much better.

Had a minor oops this am. Wife and I went to an estate sale, sell, sail, cell this am, in the garage and there is this old looking fellow telling a young man about how it is hell getting old and just wait until he gets there he will see. So I pipe in and said glad I ain't never getting old and the crusty old man said something to the effect of we will see. I replied back in a kidding manner that he would probably be dead before I get old, pretty sure that pissed him off. I then asked him how old he was and he said 65, me Really your 65 I am 66 to which the young man goes you look good for your age. His wife says he actually won't be 65 until tomorrow and I told him Happy Birthday Old Man, hope you enjoy your day. He muttered thanks I think, sure there was something else he wanted to call me.
