Howdy, I'm brand new to public land hunting (did some private hunts before) and I'm looking for advice of where would be the best place to post up. I've attached aerial photos below of the three areas in North Texas outside of DFW that I would most likely be going to the second dove season, but I can't decide on what would be the most optimal spot to actually get down and wait.
The property has been outlined in Yellow, and my proposed spot highlighted by a Red dot.
Photo 1- Dove 1: This property is surrounded by other plowed fields, no sources of water, and only one large road to the right. The red spot on the left hand side is close to a small pond which looks to be one of the only sources of water in the area. The red spot on the right is inside a treeline that would cover the remaining property below. It also has some hay bales currently lining the treeline which would provide a good makeshift blind.
Photo 2 - Dove 2: This property is located at the corner of two medium sized roads. Again, there is no significant source of water around, but there are 2 sets of high voltage wire stands running directly through the middle as highlighted by the green lines. I feel these could possibly aid in directing doves along the sight lines. My proposed spot is in the corner of the two treelines with a sector of fire between the left and right tree line.
Photo 3 - Dove 3: This property is misleading from an aerial image. Currently, it is filled with what looks to be tall bluestem and other tall grasses (3'-4'). There are two somewhat sizeable water preserve sites about a quarter mile or so away, but are on private land. My proposed spot is near the small pond on the property, due to the grasses around it having been mowed a couple feet around it. Besides that area, the entire property is full of tall grasses and I dont think that would yield very good spots, even by the treeline to the south.
Any help and/or criticism would be much appreciated!!

What you want to do is scout it, and see where the birds are flying, pattern how they are flying, then kill'em. The best spots can change, depending on crop for that season, when they plow, and just over all you never know how dove are gonna fly, where they are roasting etc..

As others have mentioned...scouting will help you ID which property and ambush spot to take...however, if it's been hot and dry...property #3 near the mowed pond edge would be worth a try for an evening hunt...as long as there is bare ground at the water edge, the dove should visit for a drink before going to their roost.

Why an evening trip vs a morning trip? Not arguing, just curious to the rationale. I’ve always done morning trips and have never tried anything in the evening yet. Does it make a difference/ is the yield much better? Thanks!
I'm only an occasional dove shooter but sometimes they will hone in on a single tree, etc. The other thing is how many others will be shooting, more hunters will keep the birds circling an area.

As said; you must scout. They sometimes come into an area a certain flight path; and go to roost a different path, you scout to get in that path. If there are other hunters, you must beat them to the good spots. Northern birds, if any will act differently.

Field 1 and 3 offer water and Roosting areas close by. The shadows on pic number three aren't pointing the right direction? I assume the picture has been rotated, but I would still hunt the edge of the roosting areas to the south.
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!
