In golf that is. I started playing in 2003 and played a good four years. I managed to get into the mid 80s. Then the wife came along and I put golf on the back burner. In the last 16 years I've probably played 10 rounds, and in the last 5, or 6 years I've played twice. I'm still rocking my G2 irons, but for the last year I've been at the driving range trying to get into playing shape. Today I got the three amigos back together, and I shot a 85! 9 over in the front, then I settled in and shot a 4 over in the back. Feels good, mid 70s here I come. Golfers might appreciate the struggle.

What Putt Putt course did y'all play? Just kidding that is great up

I play about once or twice a year. Played in a scramble tournament Saturday, rough first four holes then pretty decent after that and it was my first time playing this year.

Congrats! Nothing wrong with that at all. They say only the top 5% of golfers can break 90. Im sure you know, but the short game is where the strokes are. I’m in the same boat only getting out a few rounds a year if I’m lucky.

I started playing about 15 yrs ago. Play almost every week. Took about 5 yrs. to really get in the swing of things. Good day for me is 82-84 up to 88-90 on a bad day. Got my first hole in one about a year ago. Only 90 yds. away. Where did you play today. We played Olmos this morning.

Still looking for my first hole in one.....

We played Willow Springs, not my choice. I wanted to play Cedar creek, Olympia hills, but my buddies are sissies. I did play from the tips though, while they played fron the whites.....

Next year I'm gonna set up a golf simulator in my house on my quest to get into the seventies. I want to get into the seventies without lessons.

Best I’ve ever shot is a 98. I’m terrible I just can’t hit the ball right. Think it’s my TEE-REX arms.

I thought you and your wife were attempting to golf together before your walkabout? She lose interest?

Way too frustrating game for me to call fun…I gave it two years in my mid 20’s and just couldn’t make it enjoyable.

Back when I played every week I could shoot high 70’s low80’s every time out. My best 9 was 4 under. Eagled one of the par 5’s and birdied both par 3’s. Shot even par on back 9 for my best ever round 68

some people like silver and gold
I like brass and lead with a little powder in between

She doesn't work from home anymore, and her new schedule doesn't match up with the hours of the driving range. We get out together once a week or so, and I get out probably 4 times a week and hit 100 balls each time.

Golf is definitely a frustrating game, but when you hit a good shot it makes it all worth it.

You're a player!

You still play? Golf is a game you can play forever. I see some guy in their 70s still pounding balls at the range.

I shot and honest 78 one time on a par 71, I stopped keeping score after that.

Now I just drink and have fun. My best is 128 ounces in a round

It’s not much of a golf course, but i shot 3 over on the front 9 at the Mesquite course (before they flipped the front and back 9). At the turn, I said to my Dad, “you know what this means?” and he repainted with “yes”. Then proceeded to say “you’re going to blow up on the back 9” with a chuckle. Boy was he right. I played bogey golf and ended 12 over for the day. Not bad, but I had visions of breaking 80 for the first time ever and that dream was dashed pretty quickly. I play 8-10 times a year now for fun with my dad and we never keep score.

I used to play pretty often, but not enough to master my short game. The old man who introduced me to golf was a fantastic player and he would always say “drive for show and putt for dough”. He was right. To be really good to great you have to have a rock solid game on and around the greens.

When I was in the Air Force we could pay $35/mo and play anytime. we did 9 every day. that's the key in golf, you have to play a lot if you want to improve. I'd to well to break 100 these days.

Been playing for 30+ years, have broken par 6-7 times with my all time low being 5-under, 67 on my home course, Brookhaven Country Club - Masters course. Been about 5-6 since I shot it. Best score since is right around par. Keep at it and remember the importance of distance control and lag putting....

I was thinking about a membership to my local golf course, but at 5k a year.... I could build my own golf simulator and play a chet ton of rounds. Sure the sim will cost a lot more but comes with cameras and swing tech for game improvement which im in need of.

My wedge game was what killed me.... I was sitting there looking at the green with a wedge in hand..... and chunk... it happened multiple times. Very frustrating.

The 2 iron was my best friend.

My goal is to be a scratch golfer.

I played Gold once, it was a military event where all three hit and they took the best shot. They used about 5 or 6 of my drives. We Won First Place, I got a trophy and 100 bucks. Since I never played before and I won, I never played again because I wanted to finish on top...

Got down to a 12 handicap back in the day, but lost interest and quit. I think the last time I hit a golf ball was 2007. Been playing some disc golf lately and that's fairly entertaining.

If it is something you can do together and have fun...ENJOY IT. My wife and I only have a few activities like that...one of them I clearly enjoy more than her nuts rofl

You're right, unfortunately....I didn't hit enough good shots to overcome all the frustrating ones.
