After a few days of cooler weather I thought some new doves would have moved into the lease in Bell County.
There were very few doves there this morning. It looks like northern birds haven't migrated yet.
What are you seeing? Say which county you are hunting please.

The tanks are the place to be right now with this drought.

Yeah, where I hunt, 4 out of 5 tanks have water. Friday afternoon, had a freind setting up next to me over sunflowers, I told him to hunt this tank across the field, only reason I'm not there is that there is no shade, which I need for my dog. It was a barrel burner for him and I was seeing hardly any birds where I was. Hunted that tank in the morning, got there late and left early, shot 9, it was pretty dang good.

Friday afternoon, not seeing any birds an listing to my buddy hammer them on tank across the field, I walked to this other tank that was close, and birds all over, I shot 3 pretty quick. So yeah, tanks are hot right now. And when the tanks get low, they create mud flats, and the dove them flats...

Hunted 3 tanks Friday and Saturday afternoons. 2-3 birds per person. They're just not in this area.

How many boxes of shells? That’s the important question. We should have a “Dove shell spent report”, that tells the real story. grin
