I got nothing. Had about 10 bucks in bow range, but an AR restriction area. Some legal bucks but the big one never showed up. I do have a nice big 6 here but want to get my wife to try with her crossbow. Sure was a nice morning though. Anyone kill?

Had some action early with some younger(2 3ish yo and a forkie) bucks, then after a bit some doe and fawns came in. After watching them for a while the bucks came back. Then everyone left and another group of a doe and fawn and young (3ish) buck came in. The other bucks came back, scared off the doe and fawn and then played a little king of the hill for me. Then a lone doe came in around 8:30. Been quiet, except the squirrels, since.

No pigs, was hoping to see some today to take care of, but no dice. Giving it another 10 minutes then back to the house.

I have a feeling i need some rain here…its gonna be an ugly season if i gotta stare at these dirt plots all season

Was packing up getting ready to get down out of my stand when i see a young 1.5yo buck come walking in. He didn’t care about the minor noise i was making, and then walked right underneath me. He’s got some good potential, solid 8pts and decent brows for such a young deer. Felt bad he was late to the game and missed all the corn.

Then walking back to the sxs i saw three doe, and get back to the house and i had 5 deer at the house feeder. 3 doe and 2 fawns. Eventually had two more come out, a doe and a spike/bare forkie. Good deer numbers for first morning of deer season.

No whitetail, but got a nice axis doe for the freezer. First animal with the crossbow. And first one we have seen on this property

Group of does came in late on my downwind side. Acted real skittish so I just watched. Maybe better luck this evening. Hoping the big boar shows up so I can get the jitters gone.

I hunter dark to dark and I did not even see a deer today. But I didn’t see a sign of another human being, either. I know a spot where I can sit and watch some does pass thru at some point, but there are no big bucks there. Probably won’t be any at peak rut, either because it will be packed with people

Congrats on the Sika Stevarino but is that it, no whitetail bucks dropping out there; what are you all seeing in terms of whitetail activity??

White tail activity where I am is very slow. We need some rain for the wheat. Be nice to have some cooler weather. Also fought the wind direction. My best set-up is not great for a southeast wind. All in all it was a good opener and I didn’t want to leave after this morning’s hunt. I’ll get them next time.

Had a decent 130’s class buck cruise thru my area today, never came in to give me a close up look but he would have gotten a pass anyway till next year. Had some fun stickers off his brows and some extras on his mains. Was good to see a decent buck. There will be more.

That Sika is way better than a hill country whitetail, congratulations on a hell of a buck !

Thanks all. Saturday morning was good but over by 745am.. saw plenty of whitetail and other animals, but shot that sika pretty early. Yesterday evening and this morning were very slow but our acorns dropped heavy this week.. fortunately, there’s not many to begin with..

Snuck out to the ground blind this morning and low and behold my #1 choice in bucks came to the feeder and was spooky and almost left without giving me an opportunity. Shooting through the screen can sure mess with your vision, I couldn't really tell if it was him, I really wasn't sure if he was legal and just about let him walk. Ended up being about 15' spread so legal and he is maybe the second biggest buck (whitetail)I have ever shot. [Linked Image]
