What type of warm cap/hat do you wear while deer hunting? Mine would be the "Uncle Eddie" hat!

I bought a hat at Kuiu on clearance. 'Doesn't look too different than Cousin Eddie's above. Very warm. But, even when I was stuck between Menard and Junction during the Big Freeze for 9 days, I really didn't wear it. I'm a hothead. realmad That's why, during Covid, when the expensive lady that cut my hair sent a message to everyone what they would NOT be doing because of Covid (including NOT lowering their price one dime), I decided I was a buzz cut man from here on out. Sometimes I even cut it myself. 'Close as I'll come to ever being a Marine; admire them greatly. flag But I digress.

Coldest i've hunted was 20 degrees. In the morning before light. this hat alone kept my head warm. °45 you'll sweat slightly.

Yup, I have one like Cousin Eddie. It was gift. Some high dollar made from exotic leather and fur something-another.
I needs to be less than 10 degrees to wear it. I snow goose hunted at 15 degrees and took it off because it was too warm.

Simple blaze orange (somewhat faded) beanie... pulled over my ears on the coldest days.

I have a Russian looking fleece stocking cap I bought in a grocery store in Illinois about 20 years ago. Wore it on a moose hunt when it was -30 when we unloaded the snow machines and -30 when we got back 4 days later, having gotten noticably colder in between. My head was about the only thing that wasn't cold.

I hunt in the truck with the heater on, so I wear my usual baseball
cap.

Yep, no hat for me either.

Enclosed stand, completely insulated, carpeted, vented, buddy heater with plenty of propane refills. Toasty warm.

Not quite my style, but I do admire craftsmanship, and you sir, have done it right.

'Place looks like a sound studio...that was recently deep cleaned.

And I thought I was OCD. It's the hanging Windex bottle that concerns me the most.

Do I see an 8 or 10 gauge wire in bottom left of second picture. You got power in the blind?

Maybe an Uncle Eddie cap if it is really cold otherwise my somewhat soiled Stetson is my go-to.

Baseball Cap. I’ll pull my hoodie up for my ears. I have a Filson Beanie and have yet to find a temperature where it doesn’t make my head uncomfortable hot. Could be 0 outside and I would still be sweaty and itchy

Glass windows. Need to be cleaned sometimes. Not OCD....believe me, but in cold weather I will have the windows shut and I need to be able to see out of them.

So....just leave a bottle of Windex in the stand and a roll of paper towels.

Yes Sir, its 12VDC power supplied by a deep cycle AGM battery and Solar Panel.

I have LED lights inside (mostly hog hunt from this stand), 12v fans in each corner, 12v receptacles for any plug in 12v item and also USB outlets to charge a phone or flashlight if needed.

Now that I am older (68 this year) my days of scaling a tree, sitting in subfreezing weather with my Longbow waiting on deer are pretty much over....so comfort is more the name of the game. And as previously stated...this particular stand is pretty much a dedicated Hog Stand, so hours and hours of waiting for the pigs to show up can happen.

Its also a side by side two seater...so I can have a second shooter right there to help out.

Haha......yeah, what was I thinking just putting in an overhang.

Those two windows are 'look out' windows only. Sometimes you need to stand up and stretch and if you don't have look-out windows while you are doing that....something could come in unnoticed or get by you altogether.

The fold up windows (to shoot from) are about 36" off the floor (about right when seated) but when standing to stretch you obviously can't see out of them. Also I am 6'-5" tall so I don't need to be bending back down to peek out of the shooting windows. Anyway...that is the only purpose of those two windows (and to let a little extra light in).

I understand the blind is overbuilt and has amenities not absolutely needed....so any ribbing' is well deserved. But.....I'm retired, had the time and want the blind to last until I croak. So that's how it came about. grin

In southwest Virginia I had a nice heavy duty reversible camo/blaze orange ski mask. Haven't had need of it down here, usually a regular beanie or baseball cap. There's a Swedish army surplus hat I'll probably get as a present some year to wear when I'm hunting with the Swede.

Bought an "Uncle Eddie" hat from Eddie Bauer when assigned in Seattle in 1968. Fur and Down. Hunted in 2 below. But not necessary in Texas.
