Okay, I have a couple of questions. We cut some trees about 8-10 years ago that had died. There was one left that was still living but it died about this time of the year last year. The wife decided that she wanted the stumps removed so she could mow over them. Why after 8-10 years were the originally cut stumps still as solid as the stump that was just cut? I cut slots in the first stumps so the rain would get down aways into the stump and ROT. 2nd question, why hasn't termites made a dent in them. I can lay a board out on the ground and in a month you can see termites damage? Thanks Daniel

I recently read something unusual about getting rid of stumps. Look up using sugar to help in the decaying process.

Drill holes in them and fill with Round up or Arsenal. If you want them ground down call Ol Thumper he's got the equipment.

If were you can, not downtown Dallas and If a hole in center from old age (old post oaks) , if not, drill a few, pour diesel in hole and light um up. Might take a few gallons of diesel and a few days of smoldering and burning,,, gone.

Dig some dirt away and burn them if you want to diy.
Our old lease owner had some live oak stumps that put leaves on still, she said that her and her daddy had cut them down over 40 years before.

Cut them as close to the ground as you can. Then put a makeshift fire ring around then add charcoal on top with some lighter fluid and burn them out.

You could rent a stump grinder or do as others said and burn them. I would drill holes and soak with diesel or oil/gas mix and burn.
