Cliffs: Finally got to go to Argentina after a 2 year delay. Killed 6,600 doves, fired 12,300 rounds between 6 of us in two days. Did some big game hunting too.

After a dealing with 3 rescheduled over a 2 year period due to COVID we finally got to head down to Argentina for 10 days to do some hunting. Thankfully American flies direct out of DFW to Buenos Aires, 10 hour flight in business class wasn’t too bad at all.

My old man is trying to get the Buffalo Slam with a handgun but since it’s a custom pistol the authorities when we landed wouldn’t let him bring it in. They couldn’t find the model and caliber in their computer system so they confiscated it. He was able to get it back on the return trip. Arrived and headed straight to the first ranch 2 hours NE of Biaha Blanca.

Day 1 I jump in with my old man to go chase Buffalo. After the morning hunt, lunch is in order.

He finally get a chance to connect late in the afternoon on this monster bull.

Day 2 I jump in with another guy to chase Blackbuck. I have NEVER seen so many Blackbuck in one place, not a great pic through my binoculars but those are ALL Blackbuck.

Connect right about mid morning for a nice 20”+ ram.

Then lunch time.

Nice Mouflon takin in the evening

Day 3 I wasn’t really going to shoot anything since we missed the Red Stag window and the country wasn’t doing exportable Mt. Lions that year but we rode around and after bumping a few solid Axis bucks, I couldn’t control myself.

Day 4. Rode around most of the day, couple more critters hit the dirt and we ended the day shooting some doves. It was very much like an excellent West Texas Dove hunt over a windmill, and I picked up a Texas limit (15 birds) and it was a good warm up for what was to follow.

Day 5, long travel day. Ended up in La Pampa. This ranch was like a 5 star Mexican Resort, hands down one of the nicest lodging I’ve ever been to while hunting.

Day 6, Dove hunting time. Headed to the dove fields. I knew there were going to be a lot of birds but when we hit the fields, I could not wrap my mind around how many birds there were. Coming from every direction at every height and speed. It was amazing. I personally did not shoot well that morning and it is a bit disorienting figuring out what shots you want to take with some many birds going every which way. That afternoon, we hunted a roost area and I shot way better then as I was picking the shots that I was comfortable with. While I didn’t think it was possible, there were MORE birds than there was in the morning.

Day 7, more of the same. Starting making a contest of it, who can hit the most consecutive amount of birds etc.

Lunches were set up outside most of the time

Final tally was roughly 6600 birds, with 12,300 shots fired between 6 of us.

Day 8 and 9 we went back to Buenos Aires and spent the days checking out the city. Food was amazing throughout the entire trip and the locals where pretty friendly for the most part. I'll go back with some buddies in 24' after going back to Africa in 23'

I really enjoyed seeing your pictures and reading your comments.

What did your dad shoot the buffalo with after they took his pistol?

How cool is that?! Definitely a bucket list trip for sure. If you'd care to share, I'd also love to know what a trip like that costs?
