2018 F-150 just went over 50k miles. Just changed the cabin air filter and man, it was filthy from all the west Texas dirt and dust. Should have changed way before now. Going to add it to my yearly engine air filter change schedule. Truck already smells better and has better ac output.

Where are they mounted? I’m sure my ‘19 F350 will need to be changed.

Most cabin filters are located under the glove box on the right hand side of the dash.

This, actually behind the glove box. Youtube is very helpful.

Apparently from '08-'14 Ford F-150's didn't have a cabin air filter.

Ford service dept used to advise on engine and cabin filters when I was in on a scheduled oil change and then I'd change at home, but they've been negligent on this truck. Only reason I changed this time was I found one in a garage cabinet from my 2015. Glad it fit! I also ordered the 2 it takes for my wife's 2015 Jeep.

Guess I’ll get one for the ‘17 Expy while I’m ordering.

My 2015 ram give a service schedule for it in the owners manual, but there is no filter in it. You can buy a filter and a cover and cut a hole in the duct to install it, but doesn’t come with one. Not going to mess with it.

A coworker of my wife’s, told her that she should change the cabin air filter every 2 months and the engine air filter every 6 months!

I told her to ask him if he wants to buy them, I’ll install them. He complains about perfume smells since she is now his boss and drives him around to accounts.

I got tired of the dealership showing a filter and wanting $35 for a $15 part during free oil changes. I told them when I got there not to bother. I have heard that some quick lube places will show people a dirty filter that is not from their vehicle. I don't run my AC on recirculate a lot. If you do make sure to run it on outside air for a while. That moist cabin air will cause a filter to grow mold.

Never seen a moldy CAF and outside air is what makes them dirty, not recirc.

Most need changed every 15-20K miles depending on environment.

Dealership tried to change mine on the first oil change at 5000 miles. Said they saw pollen on it. They wanted around $78 to change it and already had it out to show me. I might have gave them more than a dirty look. It definitely needs changed now at 56k and never recirculating the air.

Dealership cabin filter change is a scam. Do it yourself, takes only a few minutes.

I agree with outside air making them dirty on dusty roads. That is when I run recir. I have seen moldy ones come out of vehicles that have been run only on recir.

I have a company pickup and am in it all day in road construction. Changing cabin filters is a regular occurrence. I've thought about taking it completely out. We used to not have them.

I change them in our cars every 3 or 4 months. I have them on subscribe and save with Amazon and they show up with the rest of my monthly orders. As others have said, they’re like 15 and it takes about 2 minutes to lower the glove box and change them.

Thanks,
Rich
