I recently bought a house with a Kenmore 300 Series Softner. It has not been running for 2 years. There is salt down in the bottom of the tank. I plan on cleaning it out and have watched videos on YouTube to clean out the head unit but haven't found anything for the actual tank. My question is can I just flip the tank upside down and wash the old salt out? I would appreciate any more information.

There will be a water line with a float inside a tube. After cleaning, make sure the float mechanism is free and working properly

Run it few a few consecutive manual cycles and see if it is softening.

We all need to practice Whoa more.

You can also rinse the tank and components inside that tube with hot water to help remove salt that may not wanna wash off.

So can I just turn it upside down to get the salt that had been in there awhile out? Thanks for the help.

If this is similar to your brine tank then follow this guys advice. Pretty simple. Mind the tubing and float in white vertical pipe inside (left) of the brine tank.
