Anyone have one? Started looking at what youth rifles are available local. Not that I put much faith in them but the gun counter guy recommended it said they are low recoil. Google says they are 30% less recoil than a 243.

Curious about real world experiences.

I realize the design of it was completely around eastern woods hunting regulations, but I'm right there with you. For a gun used exclusively at close ranges, especially if it were built on an AR platform, it seems interesting. I know there are plenty of cartridges that are either similar (357 Maximum) or offer more flexibility for more things, but a 35 caliber bullet sent out at reasonable speeds with sufficient weight will do a lot of damage compared to what the kick feels like on the shoulder. All that in an AR capable platform. Definitely has had me searching around on the internet a time or two.

I have both AR and bolt in .350L and overall it's a solid and useful cartridge out to 225yds or so which is about as far as I normally shoot game here in NE TX anyway. Recoil is minimal, especially in an AR and I would say it's less than a .243. With a suppressor on recoil is more like a .22-250

The Hornady 170gr Interlock has proven deadly on hogs for me

If we hadn't previously developed and put so much effort into the 300 HAM'R (which is much more accurate and versatile) the .350L would probably be my go to caliber for the type of hunting I do.

A quick look at the ballistics of the 350 legend(approx 160 gr @ approx 2200 fps), and I would imagine that both the 300BLK and 300 Ham'r would have less or similar recoil to the 350 legend. Am I correct?

The felt recoil I have experienced is similar to most AR pattern calibers higher than 5.56x45, its harsher than 300 Hamr, but significantly less than .458 SOCOM easily managed, and the impulse generated can be manipulated by powder selection by the experienced reloader. So far I've gotten sub MOA with the 170 Hornady Interlock and MOA average with the 165 FTX.

I’ve never had interest in an ar but seeking ambidextrous and adjust on the fly length of pull and minimal recoil I have been looking at them. I’ve been looking at 6.5 grendel, 7.62x39, 300 bo, and apparently now a 350 legend.

It was developed for Texas hog hunting , what Winchester marketed it for later is another story . . The 180 at 2180 fps is the best hog load . The recoil in a bolt rifle or AR is not bad at all , a good low recoil to hard hitting ratio . The main benefit for kids is the lack of muzzle blast . Cartridges like the .223 , 22/250 and .243 have a high intensity blast , the 350 is not near as sharp . All the kids I have worked with seem to flinch from the blast more than the recoil . It has been very popular with my friend and their kids for about 6 + years around here.

I would say it's slightly more than a HAM'R if shot in a comparable rifle, but neither has any substantial recoil. If you can't manage the recoil of one of these you better stick with .22 rimfire!

As diablodog said, it does have less muzzle blast than most calibers with a smaller bore, but of course this is somewhat powder type dependent.

I thought it was developed for the straight wall regs of other states, just a few years ago?

redchevy, if it were me I'd get the 6.5G, it can take deer and hogs just like the 350 but does way more on targets, especially at distance. Who knows what the kid will be doing in a year or two.

Sacrilege! I jest.... I have plenty of non-AR platform rifles... but man, the AR platform is really nice and I do have a ton of AR rifles. Oddly enough, I had this lonely AR lower sitting around, doing nothing, waiting for an upper just last week.. and I was torn between 350 Legend and 450 Bushmaster..... and then I happened across the AR57 upper (5.7x28) that uses 50-round P-90 mag and ejects spent cartridges out the lower magazine well LOL... totally bought it and just got it in this week and put it on that lonely lower. Fun times. But that does mean I need to pickup a few more lower receivers and eventually get myself a 350 Legend upper still.

Only bad thing is, it's one of the only cartridges I'm not setup to handload for and I understand there are special difficulties in handloading that round

But, back on topic. Everyone I know with the 350 Legend seems to like it and says the recoil isn't bad at all (I'd still use a recoil calculator to understand wth that means though lol) ... definitely on my list of calibers to acquire.

Seems like ammo was always available in the shortest times. I don’t have any AR rifles but wouldn’t mind getting one and if I do it will be a 350 Legend if it’s not a Hamr

We picked up a Ruger American in the 350 Legend a couple weeks ago for my daughter. Took it out to the lease last weekend to sight it in. That little gun shoots very nice with little recoil. You could barely tell there was 3 shots together the group was so tight. Hopefully my suppressor gets released soon to top it off. Shooting Winchester 160 grain power max. Might have to take it for a test drive on some pigs soon. So far I like the little round just shooting it. Hopefully it will be successful in the field as well.

Ham'r is a much better choice. Very little recoil even for a youngster and more range. If you reload a LOT more choices of bullets and bullet weights. I had 4 bypass surgery in July of 2020 and loaded up some 110 grain that took a nice 6 pt on opening morning.

I don’t know about much better but it is appealing to be .308 instead of .355, lots more bullet availability.

Nice! That's definitely where I thought its best value would be, and I did not know that. Well, it really does do well in the eastern woods as well, but good to know.

I have both a bolt action rifle and AR in 350 Legend. I really like this round for hunting hogs and deer. It works really good where I hunt. All our shoots are under 150 yards. Light recoil and lots of ammo available!

I have been searching for a Henry Single Shot in 350 Legend but haven’t been able to find one even online.
I will find one eventually.

I bought this last year for my then 8yr old daughter. She shoots it using a BOG Death Grip tripod.
I also bought her a WC 300 HAMR AR.

Looks like a nifty little rifle. I have been looking around probably going to pick up with an ar to give a whirl. Either a grendel blackout or one of these.

It’s a shame the ammo prices on this caliber have shot up so high. I know everything has gone up, but decent ammo for the Legend has almost doubled from an affordable $18-$20/box to $36-$40/box. It used to be affordable to shoot, not so much any more. Too bad Winchester doesn’t release the deer season XP bullets for reloading.

I looked quite a bit at the 350 legend but ended up picking up a 300 blackout. It will serve my purpose, have greater availability of projectiles, and I’d like to get the ball rolling on a suppressor and seems it made more sense to stick with 30 cal for that. I appreciate the experiences and feedback.

I started my Grandson on a REM 222. He killed his first pig at age 7 and a buck the next year. Why age 7? Because his mom wouldn’t let him hunt at 6.

I told him recently that he better get his butt in gear getting me a new great grandson to take hunting. If not, one of my granddaughters might pop out a boy to get the gun.
