FWIW, and I stand to be corrected.......

It is my understanding that Bill Wilson wanted to recreate the ballistics of a 30-30 in an MSR.

JD Jones had the 300 Whisper which was originally designed for subsonic loads using heavy bullets, suppressed.

So, IMHO, if you're wanting to shoot heavy bullets suppressed, then the 300 AACBlackout. If you want to shoot 110 to 150 gr. bullets at moderate velocities, go the 300 Hammr.

Anywho that's my take.

If you want to be able to shoot subsonic it's Blackout, if only supersonic then the extra 200fps+ of the HAM'R may be the way to go. Depending on bullet weight the HAM'R has a 200-300fps velocity advantage over the Blackout.

I went .300 BO. Still awaiting my suppressor. I have not shot sub-sonic rounds yet, but here's what I've learned with the supers.

Shooting the 150 GR Winchester Deer Season XP rounds, it'll DRT pigs at 120 yards no issue. For a short barrel gun, it's really not very loud. I think supers with a can are going to be pretty quiet. The more I read on hunting with subs, the more I think I don't want to do it.

I bought a 12” .300 Whisper pistol barrel for my T/C Encore back in the mid 90’s and killed a bunch of deer with it shooting 150 grain bullets at supersonic velocity. Longest shot I took on game would have been 75 yards. If you will be shooting shorter ranges, the Blackout (which is almost a Whisper clone) will do fine. If you want to stretch it out a bit, Ham’r is the way to go.

As Bill has stated, if you want to be able to shoot subs and supers, 300BLK is the way to go. That's the way I went. I have hunted with the subs, but realistically, you are limited to bow ranges. Yes, subs will kill at 100 yards, and yes, you can hit what you are aiming at if you know the drop, but, you are better off keeping it at bow ranges with subs. 16" barrel 300BLK suppressed, 125gr, I am getting 2195fps at my most accurate load. Same load out of the 10" I believe was getting 2100. Those speeds with a 125gr SST works great inside of 200 yards.
I like that I can keep it loaded with Subs at home for home defense, and then go load it with supers to hunt with. I have it sighted in 1"high at 100 yards with supers. When I switch to subs, it is about 2" low at 30-40 yards. No need to adjust the red dot when switching.
