I was at the Range today shooting sporting clays - shot both 100 round courses - woods & Meadows. i was pretty well burned out. & Went to check out at the clubhouse and the lady in charge of leagues (Chantay) asked were you going to shoot fall league & told me it had started last night.

But if i wanted to shoot she would put me on a Team that was missing people!

The team i got assigned too didn't even have enough people to make a 5-man team or even a Team name. The Team name: New Team (aka Scrubs)

2 people i have not met shot yesterday 2 rounds of 5 stand worth 50 each

I went down and shot 2 rounds to make up for yesterday. I scored 40/50 -And that made me the top shooter in our group so far (things are not looking good)

Then Chantay sent a new shooter down to join us (the scrubs) & i asked how well he shot 5stand? his answer was Not Sure have not shot in 2 years (we are well and truly F)

The 5th shooter is a Fing Ghost - don't have anything except a first name and no way to get in touch, he has to show and shoot by Sunday. Then Chantay tells me this unknown shooter is a minor - I was like F me running. Chantry Just how minor is he? She thinks he is 15 yr - I have seen some good young shooters & i hope he is one of them!!

This was not how i wanted to shoot my first League- live and learn! I just don't see this turning out well. I wanted a team of shooters from the THF but that didn't happen!

violin Steve(Aka hetman) - AKA Team SCRUB bang elmer

Yah, sorry I ain't gonna make it... Lookin like they are going to try injections on the back in an effort to avoid the knife...

I feel the pain on the bad team. Been there and done that. But good practice and its always fun to burn some powder.

Best of luck!!

PS... Her name is Chantay... Pronounced Shawn Tay... Took me a bit to get it....

I did actually shoot yesterday with one member of Team "ScruB" & he is a real deal shooter. Him and I hold the top 2 scores for our team "Week 1 - 5stand". Next week will be sporting clays and i am better in that.

Raw Score for 5 shooters so far 168/250(going to be a long 6 weeks) Hopefully handicapping will bring some of our team member scores up. one member posted a 9 ( has not picked up shotgun in 2 years) bang

well with 2 weeks in: i have to retract some of my misgivings - team members can actually shoot ok - not the best but trying very hard
can't believe where we are at:

scoring is after Handicap added. total of 20 -5-man teams

1st - 471/500
2nd- 469/500

3rd- 467/500 - that's us team SCRUB - 2weeks in with 4 wees to go.

At this point being 1,2,3 really don't matter as long as we are in the top 8 teams

The top 8 teams will have a shoot off and that will decide placement

The statement i made is incorrect - it matters!

I was wrong on order of ranking in the top 8 teams that will compete at the end. They seed the teams - so we do not want to be at the bottom of the final 8 teams. As #1 seed will shoot against #8 team and on down the line.

what i don't understand is if a lower seed team takes out a higher seed say # 1 team get beaten by #8 team will #8 become the top seeded team? Or will #2 team assuming they win take the top seed position?

Being in the top 3 is not a bad place to be bang elmer

From the way you are describing the shoot-off, it sounds like a bracket format. In that case the teams will retain their seeding regardless of whether they beat a higher seed or not.
i.e.:
1. #1 seed vs #8 seed
2. #4 seed vs #5 seed
3. #3 seed vs #6 seed
4. #2 seed vs #7 seed

5. winner of 1 shoots winner of 2
6. winner of 3 shoots winner of 4

7. winner of 5 shoots winner of 6 for championship.

** they may also shoot a consolation where loser of 5 shoots loser of 6 for third place.

Yes it does....

And get ready to be humbled... Last "playoffs" that I shot in out there was insane. I believe we were 7 or 8, and faced 1 or 2. Watched the team that beat us through the championship and out of 5 shooters, I think I saw 3 missed targets.

week 5 scores are up:

And we dropped to 4th with a 1149/1250

week 5 was a bad week for our team - we were first to shoot 2 brand new setups on both 5stand courses

we did ok on the Tan Course - then went to shoot the green course & it went to hell - it was right at dusk, and they flipped on the lights. i had never shot clays in the dark & under floodlights.

the last 2 stands for our whole team we dropped a bunch - could not see the targets. you would see them launch & if they had any altitude would disappear, then you would finally pick them up 2foot above the ground.

The twin pairs were useless - even if you could track one clay the other was lost

it sucked bad

we should have stopped and gone back and shot the next day - lesson learned

1st 1175/1250 2&3 tied @ 1163/1250 4th(scrubs) 1149/1250

last Weekley shoot this wed- and it will be on a super sporting clay course elmer

tonight (wed) ends the official league shoot & hopefully if we don't screw up too badly will put us in the top 8 teams for the final shootoff next week I think on the 27th.

Tonight, is a super sporting clay course & we tend to shoot better (but so do other teams) elmer

tonight & tomorrow are the last day of shooting for league;

4 out of 5 shooters shot tonight (team Scrub) & the 5th will shoot tomorrow night (we did some rough number crunching, and our 5th shooter could turn in a negative score, and we will still be in the final 8 teams out of 20 for the shoot off nov 3rd) How the 5th shooter scores will determine our place in the top 8 - again rough number crunching should put us in the top 4

they laid out a tough course for last night of league shooting - basically 25 true pairs (they are not easy true pairs)

November 3rd, 2022 is the award dinner!

• Dinner starts at 6:00pm
• Shoot-off
• Awards
• Games

So far our bracket battle consists of:

1. Wad Squad
2. Tightwads
3. Dos Equis
4. You Da Man
5. Upland
6. Scrubs
7. AMP Shenanigans
8. Over the Hill Bunch

Get your scores in by Sunday October 30! RSVP with Chantay in the Pro Shop or email her if you're attending the banquet. Stay safe and good luck to our shooters at National's!

Well we made it to the shootoff on nov3 ( Team Scrub) even though we shot well in the last week(6th) . week 5 pulled us down from 4th to 6th it was our worst outing - we dropped a bunch on the last 2 stations of 5stand that week due to not being able to see the targets & none of us had ever shot at night under spotlights.

looks like it will be Scrubs vs Dos Equis for our first challenge!

3. Tightwads
4. Dos Equis
5. Honey Badger Whisperers
6. Blue Rock Busters
7. Upland

well at least we get to shoot against the best #1 vs #8 (scrubs)

well league ended tonight with the shootoff:

it was short and sweet for the "scrubs"

we faced the #1 seeded team (these were the guys that they did a bye week for last week so they could shoot in the nationals in San Antonio)

we flipped for who shot first & we lost & it went downhill from there

it was pretty much dead_horse whip hanged

they won the whole match

1st time to shoot league for all 5 of us on our scrub team .

All i can say we tried! but could not run with the big dogs chicken
