What’s everyone’s antler growth looking like this year? I just started running cameras this year and to be honest I was looking for a below average year for antler size but to my surprise it’s looking like it’s just the complete opposite. SE Oklahoma’s going to have some giants falling this hunting season and NE Texas is looking outstanding as well. What’s your bucks looking like this year? Average, Below or Above this year and the region? I’m guessing the drought areas will be affected but I’m curious if this is the case,

I have a bachelor group of 4 with 3 of them being better than anything I’ve ever seen here. I counted 24 at my feeding area this evening that were does and small bucks. I’m very surprised with the drought but it’s shaping up to be a great season.

I’m not expecting anything positive in the way of antler growth.

It was just too dry all year long

Just can’t see anything super positive here in NE Lasalle County other than to use this year to make things better for next year.

Well below average for me this year. Lots of pencil thin bucks. A few decent ones but overall a disappointment.

Looking good here.

For what I've fed in protein they all ought to be over 200". But it looks like it's a near normal year, maybe slightly below average.

I feel your pain. The pasture's green, for now, and there was corn left on the ground the other morning, but...it's drying out fast. More protein will be needed. bang

Mills county, I’m seeing a big loss of mass due to the drought. Decent enough length but pencil thin.

Looks well below last year in Dickens county for both WT and MD. Much lower overall numbers too. Even less hogs. Rain was well too late.

Thin and brittle is what I’m seeing. Lack of any mass and already got a few that have busted off tines

I guess on the positive side maybe a few more deer will get an extra year of growth, sure sucks though for the severe drought guys.

What deer I’ve seen at my place are pretty poor in terms of rack configuration

Been sitting in the stands quite a bit the past month. Horns are below average, fawn crop is 15%. Southwestern Stephens county.

It is down here... by at least 20%. I keep telling the boys we have a nutrition issue, but it falls on deaf ears. Oh well, come on rain!

Too early to tell for me. I will have to see numerous deer that I’ve seen before to tell. There are still a lot of bucks from last year that haven’t showed yet. From what I have seen it seems like it could be a little down.
We were dry during antler growth but our native forage for them is the type that stays a little more on an even plane instead of boom or bust with the rain.

Based on what I've seen in person and on gamecams, all bucks get a pass this year on my place. (Besides the obvious cull or two) We will be taking 8 - 10 does.

Some made improvement, some didn't. we have 8-10 regular bucks and only one or two shooters due to ARs, pretty good jump for those 2 yr old into their 3rd year but the older ones put most of their energy into body condition during the drought.

Our place has been odd this year. In Aug-Sept it was all young bachelor groups coming to the feeders. Almost completely displaced the does at a ratio of 12:1....I didn't realize we had so many bucks. Things are back to normal now though it seems there is a disproportionate number with undersized racks. We still have some 5-6y/o with decent bone but I think they could be better.

I have not seen a single buck I would shoot this year where I hunt in East Texas and I’m not even a huge trophy hunter. My standards are pretty low. Been pretty disappointed.
