Thank you.

Rifles with wood stocks are somewhat harder to find these days but thankfully folks are still making them. One day I'm going to pull the trigger (pun intended) on a new Winchester Model 70 Super Grade in French Walnut.

I have a Kimber Select in 257R with a nice French walnut stock. It’s definitely my prettiest rifle. Kimber used to make a lot of nice wood stocked rifles but have switched over almost totally to synthetics.

Here are a couple of my favorites, though I've never taken an animal with them yet...but I will.

Savage Model 99 in .358 WIN which dates to 1962.

1917 Enfield .30-06, built by Remington in 1918. Sporterized by my gunsmith great-grandfather who also built the stock.

Tikka CTR, 20", .308, Leupold VX5 HD 3-15 x 44. Accurate, solid caliber, great glass, mobile, I love it. If this set up were a Country & Western Song it would be David Allan Coe's "You Never Call me by My Name", final verse. It's got everything.

My most recent acquisition is a 1948 pre-64 Model 70 in 300 H&H. The stock had paint on it (luckily it was 100% other than that), but I sent it to a guy to restore and it looks outstanding now.

Haven't shot it yet, but just loaded some 165 gr. Nosler Partitions to try next week. Can't wait to try it this season!

Nice rifle!

You don't see those come along too often

My Paw-Paw, the one who took me hunting the most hunted w that exact rifle, his wore a Redfield wide-view

His 300H&H was honestly the only one I ever saw

When he passed his dam dope head son got it, im sure it was pawned shortly after bang

Thats one of only a couple that I would grossly over pay for to put his old rifle back in my hands

Big fan of the death grip in pop up blinds it tight places. I used to get busted trying to poke my rifle out of the bind.

For predator hunting I use a TC ProHunter, Bellm trigger at about 2 pounds, Trijicon 2.5-12.5 green center dot and a Match Grade Machine threaded 22 hornet barrel. Luckily I have thousands of rounds of factory ammo it likes and enough reloading components to make thousands more.

Beautiful. Whoever refinished the stock is a true craftsman. Why on earth would anyone put paint over such beautiful wood.

The paint didn’t look intentional. Like some one dropped a can next to it and it sloshed on the stock.

Wood stocked rifles always look best when photographed outside. You get to see all the detail in the wood. Indoors just doesn’t do them justice.

That is one beautiful piece in an awesome old caliber. My gunsmith picked up the collection of his mentor when he passed. A pre-64 Mod. 70 in 300H&H was in the group. I can't get him to even show it to me. realmad
